Head and cam question...

I have gone over and tryed different combonations of stuff from each engine, got good spark and getting fuel, but it keeps fouling the plugs from too much fuel, perfect compression...

is the afc installed? if so, take it out.

its not the afc. worked fine before in both our cases. and in my case when that b**** kicks in around 3k in neutral it runs great..its just below 3k it runs insanely retarded.

but tomorrow or the next day im gonna buy new coils and plugs.

at oriellys you can get all of it for 88 bucks with tax!

Mine wont even idle... Ill try to adjust it and see if it makes a difference in starting...

I have new coils and plugs and it does the same thing...

hey dude. jdmsam just helped me out on our local forum...change your cam sensor and cam pulleys with the protege ones

change both cam gears and the cam sensor

no way dude...you must not of timed it right...

put it to top dead center on cylinder one.

then the I and the E on the cams should line up directly at each other in the middle.

then turn it over by hand a few times and check again.

yea dude.i just timed the p5 today. runs great. if you need stock gears lmk. but if you time it right, itll work

ya turns out the 626 cam gears only have one magnet and the proteges have three.

UPDATE! Changed cam gear and the car started, let it run for 10 min and took it out for a drive, drove about a mile and it shut off on me and is doing the same thing it did before, ANY SUGGESTIONS on why it would run fine and shut off and not start back up?

How can i test it? Take it to mazda? I guess it could have made the car run to rich and fouled my plugs....
