You said you bought 4 quarts, but our cars only take 2.9 or a full 3 like I put in. so technically you wont be fine if you put all 4 in. But yes that is the right fluid. same one i used!

Its done! (2thumbs) Used an air pump I bought from Kmart put three quarts in, but there was a little bit (VERY little) of syncromesh fluid left in the bottom of each of the three quarts so...it should be about 2.9 quarts total.

The problem I had was with the washers. I went to Mazda to get two new washers for the transmission fill and drain plugs. The part guy gave me 2 of these.

So They looked a little small, but somehow I thought that the threads on the drain/fill plugs would be small enough to accept the washers. Guess what...Nope (scratch) They dont fit at all, In fact there the same size as the washer for the oil pan plug.


So I had to reuse the old washers (I know, I know) Mazda not open on Sunday anyway and long story short If the parts guy hands anybody else this size washer tell him to shove up it his ass.(headshake

I put the fluid up on a chair like this guy, but I dont understand why? When I put the fluid on the ground it seemed to work just fine also. Can someone tell me?

it just helps some.. a gravity/siphon feed priming the pump

You guys that have this fluid in there, do you get a faint (or not so faint) whine when in gears? It stops when the clutch is engaged.

thats odd, because if the car is still in gear, the gears still turn, even with the clutch depressed

and I haven't ever noticed that with my Redline Superlight Shockproof

Nope so far so good, sounds just like stock i.e. no sound at all, just shifting feels lighter and much easier to get into first

hmm I've always filled mine up to the fill plug in every vehicle I've had, generally this is right around what the fluid capacity is supposed to be(in fact both mitsubishi and Chevy told me to do this for my gsx and my vette). Filling it up to the plug shouldnt give you any problems, I need to change mine out again so I'll measure this time how much it takes to fill it to the plug. I actually use a long ass tube that i feed down thru the engine to fill up, best for gravity setup up, but the pumps are also a wise investment!

Do you change the washer on your oil drain plug when you change the oil? Then you should change the washer on your transmision fill/drain plugs also. I think it helps with the sealing of the bolt to the transmission (huh) also IIRC it helps prevent leaks.

What washer ... there is no washer on our oil drain plug? At least not on mine.

The bronze colored washer (On the left) is what came on my car. I have been replacing this washer every time I do a oil change. I was assuming that your car came with this washer.

No stinkin washer on mine ... never actually seen an oil drain plug that had one either.

Mine didn't have a washer either and I would think that Tom (DistantTea) would have had something when he changed mine out.

Mine had the washer, but I did all of my oil changes myself (perhaps some of you had the dealer do the first one, since it's on kinda tight). I don't know what color the washer it (oil colored: ). The washer is easy to loose track of espicially over some kinds of oil pans (can drop through without noticing).

the dealership did not use a washer on mine and instead screwed the plug on so tight it bent. Now I'm doing oil changes myself and using a washer.
