Not sure if this is the best area for this thread but...
I had to call a tow truck for a battery boost.
The driver used a Quick Cable Rescue 1800 jumper pack to try to start the car. I watched him as he put the wrong cable on the battery terminal (sparks flew), and then asked for me to start the car ... which did not work.
He then tested the battery voltage which read very low. He tried several times with different combinations of either clamp on the terminals and/or on the metal frame of the car. The battery was dead and needed to be replaced so I had him tow me to a shop.
They replaced the battery but could not start the car either. They ran some diagnostics and found that the main fuse had been blown. They replaced it and I picked up my car the next day when I saw that the radio and interior lights did not work. I suspect those fuses blew as well.
I am trying to submit this as a claim to the autoclub, but they are telling me that what I claim is impossible - that a booster pack would cause a fuse to blow.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
I've called 3 mechanics and they all say it is possible. The claims deptartment won't hear of it and basically says I'm mistaken.
How else could those fuses have blown?
I'm calling the manufacturer of the booster pack tomorrow, but if anyone else has ever had any experience with this and can help, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!
