For all you who have boosted your turbos

Just curious what do you all believe in your own personal opinion is a safe boost level? When would you start worrying about the internals?

Dakidd, in your signature it says you have a factory style sunroof..
is that on your MSP? any pictures of it?

I can take some. it wasnt an option from mazda, i just had the dealer take it to one of their aftermarket guys that they deal with. they did a great job. will bring my digi cam home from work tomorrow and post some.

Like stated above, 9 - 10 psi is generally considered safe...others go higher, others stay lower. But please, learn to use the search function...this question (almost word for word) has been asked before (1 - 1 1/2 months ago).

I realize this, I was asking YOUR opinions, I already know what I'm going to do just seeing what everyone else is thinking.

I understand, and I wasn't yelling at you or anything....and I did give you my opinion (9 - 10 psi), just in the future, try the search first...the same question, with the same answers/opinions were given about 1 - 1 1/2 months ago. All's good.

the turbo doesnt really have that much left to pump efficiently after like 15 psi. there is much debate on what the stock internals can handle. the msp's have much better fuel and ignition maps. but not enough for 1 bar boost pressures. i would not go over 9-10 psi without larger injectors , ignition management, and probably fuel pump. oy yeah check out what the stock rod looks like in comparison to an upgraded one.http://www.protege5.com/vbb225/showthread.php?threadid=19249

Forged internals, upgraded pump & injectors and 60 turbo 25psi all day.

The question is how do you get the 2.0 to spool up the 60???

Haaaaaaaaaa LOL...

it will spool it up go get some custom cams and you will have no problem. Now you dont need cams (i dont think) but it would help. Now 25 PSI is some serious boost off race gas and engine management. Also I thought compressor surge on these turbos were at about 13 psi? so 10 would be the hightest i would go cause the intercooler usually has about a 1-2 psi pressure drop.

it is true that this question has been asked before BUT the longer our cars are out the more is tried and the more is tested. along with CAI and a boost controller what are a few other mods that would gain you noticeable performance for not a lot of money? SAY... you could only spend another 600 or 800 bucks or sumpin. custom mandreal exhaust??

hey AGR#7

Are you boosting 9.5? Has it helped with the hesitation?

I just boosted to 9.5..it still hesitates. The difference is in 3-5 gear pull.

I need to upgrade the BOV as it will only hold 9.5 when pulling in 4th and 5th...it briefly hits 9 in 2-3rd and drops to 8.
