'07 Mazda 5
hi all! I have a '07 5 and i've got the front end knockety knockety over the bumps at slow speed. I have been pokin around for a while and have read the TSBs for this....I want to replace the swaybar bushings first, and if that does'nt cure it I will tackle the control arm bushings. What size is the stock sway bar in the front? anyone have a good source for parts? and if it seems like i have not searched enough let me know!!! thanks in advance!

Welcome!

Man, before you get too carried away, I would 1.) ask your dealer if yours qualifies for the TSB sway bar bushing upgrade where they replace it with the revised bushings, and 2.) if that's not an option, just pop them off and grease them. I would try those options first before I spent any money. YOu can always just buy the new sway bar bushing for, I think, about $12 if the dealer won't do it.

tsb vs. warranty

Well lubing is a good call... I will do that......(jerkit) but ive got the thump not a squeek. Will lubeage take care of the thump? Being a '07 and no longer under warranty I am avoiding the stealership like the plauge......will a TSB cover the cost?

If it were any manufacturer other than Mazda you may have a chance at getting a TSB after the warranty expired. You could try but I guarantee Mazda service will tell you to pound sand. Come to think of it...even if it were under warranty the Mazda dealership will probably deny any and all TSBs unless you print it out and shove it in their face. At least that is the case in my area.

I can appreciate you wanting to avoid the dealership. I love Mazdas but absolutely hate their service (we had some very bad experiences at various dealerships trying to service my wife's old Mazda 3 while it was still under warranty).

Welcome to the board and congrats on the new ride! Mine has a little front end knock as well. Eventually I'll get around to replacing the bushings.

Here are a couple of threads on the strut issue, the second one has a link to a Mazda dealer with an online presence - Montgomery Mazda out of Charleston, North Carolina. Places like that are where I normally buy larger parts. For smaller parts (under $20 or so) I just buy local, it's cheaper because there is no shipping.

By the way, at the Montgomery Mazda site they have free shipping on orders over $125. You can buy a spare key (give them your VIN and they will cut it), air filter, etc to get above that amount.

Feel free to stay around after the front suspension issues are solved. Lots of interesting characters hang out on this forum.

+1, haha

Also you'll learn a lot about your mazda5. Things that you may or may not experienced, people here share a collective idea how to tackle any annoying issue with the 5. A lot of ideas on the board, some may even give you courage to start your own mods...
