Exhaust leak=more turbo lag??

My corksport is currently leaking bad from a broken weld on the resonator pipe. A new piece is in transit right now so getting it fixed is not the issue. Either the exhaust being broken or out of sheer coincidence my car has been running like s***. It doesn't boost spike anymore, it takes forever to get up to the 8 psi I set it at, and just feels way slower. Would the exhaust leaking cause this? I'm gonna rip my car apart tomorrow and look for any leaks elsewhere either it be boost leak or maybe other parts of the exhaust around the turbo area. Before it running like s*** the car would spike to 10 and push me back in my seat at 8 psi to redline now it just gradually gets up there. I know everybody hates long posts like this explaining how their car boosts and revs but just wondering if anyone else had this same issue with their corksport breaking cuz I know almost all of them eventually do. And if yours did was your car running like crap? Thanks everybody.

If the leak is after the turbo, then I'd think they're unrelated. When I open my cut-out I hit boost a little quicker and pull harder... that's a rather large exhaust leak, IMO. Sounds like a vacuum leak or a leak in the exaust manifold?

Well that sounds like this could suck some serious ball sack for me. Maybe I am just being paranoid about the situation or maybe I'm used to the added boost from my new MBC.

check the manifold i had thesame thing , they change the gasket and stills doing the same thing ,im selling the msp do to that and some others problems!!! I love it but icant stand that ******* hesitation and leaks everywere!!!

could be the intake manifold..i had mine set to 10psi and couldnt get past 6psi until i noticed i was missing a bolt in my intake mani and that fixed the problem

Intake manifold? Did you mess with your manifold or something to lose a bolt?

So I tore apart my car today. I checked all vacuum lines and they were fine. I took off all my piping from the IC to the throttle body. I then cleaned it and reattached everything. I looked under my heat shield and noticed two very small cracks on the exhaust manifold. Doesn't look like thy leak at all more like maybe its the coating (if there is a coating) peeling or something. I started the car back up and I registered 20 to 21 in the vacuum at idle which is better than the 18 it was reading before. I took her for a rip and the car was way more responsive. It felt more like it use to feel like. But still no boost spike at all. It use to peak to 11 then settle down to 8 up to redline. Now it just climbs to that level. I am taking the car in to get it checked for any leaks cuz it's free and I am gonna remove the MBC before I go in. My new exhaust piece will be here tomorrow so my car will be more back to normal again. Hopefully having no leak at all will help the situation. Who knows these cars can act up sometimes. I guess it's just a part of owning one.

Your opinion is right. The leak goes all the way around the tube on the weld. Sorry for the bad rep Corksport.

The new exhaust piece is installed and the car has no exhaust leaks and sounds great. It still runs like s*** though. Night and day between yesterday and today. Just completely disregard my post about it running well again. There a loud ass swishy whistling noise when the car is under boost and it takes 4 ever to get on boost. I don't know what the hell it is. I took off my MBC and that wasn't the problem. I thought it might be the BOV leaking if that ever happens so I tightened/ messed with it and nothing changed. It still could be the BOV. Anyone ever had that problem? I have an appt on Mon at a local Mazda dealer to check it out. I think it may be the exhaust manifold or stock downpipe. Who knows. I hate this feeling of my car not working properly. ****!!!!! Whatever it's Fri nite time to get belligerent or however you spell it. God damn.

i know your feeling, i feel the same , stills doing the same s*** hope the aftermaket shop fixed tomorrow i guess i need to change either the manifold or the downpipe!!!

I had my Hiboost kit on for almost 2 years until I ran some Seafoam thru my intake vac line and found I had a bad exhaust leak at the threaded EGR fitting into the side of the manifold. Seafoam will smoke out wherever it is leaking for at least ten minutes while under a little throttle. I had some pretty bad bucking whenever I let off the gas. It's worth a shot!!
Good Luck!

so what should i do ?? where can i find the seafoam?? Explain that to me sorry but i don'tknow what is that!!!
