Drivers seat - mesh is fraying already

Ok, I've got about 12k on my MSP now. Yesterday I noticed (while cleaning) that the drivers seat is starting to fray. Is anyone else experiencing this yet? It's not like a hole in the fabric or anything, but it just doesn't seem like it should be this way.

Anyone have any input (besides buy new/better seats).

If you look at the seat-back, you can see it starting on the bottom there too

And here is a link to a larger similar picture.

I'm above 18k miles and my driver seat fabric is loose. I think this last trip to Colorado (12+ hours of straight driving) kinda took it's toll. I'll have to take pics sometime.

Couldn't you try and get it replaced free under warranty? I know you expect wear from usage, but you might be able to get a free seat.

Warranty DEFINITIVELY won't cover that, don't bother. I started seeing fraying and wear on my seat especially where my right back pocket is (where I keep my wallet). I also went on some long trips, but it's just expected. I guess just try to not make it worse.

not surprised in the least that this is happening. It actually crossed my mine when I first took a look at the orange one I originally ordered.

gotta disagree here. try getting it replaced under warranty, you have nothing to lose. if they don't then b**** and make a scene!

my GF's RSX had a dimple in the pass seat back where the fabric was pulled to tight and they replaced it under warranty.

an former dodge avenger's leather driver seat had excessive wear by my wallet and they replaced it under warranty at 35k miles.

i do not see why mazda would be any different.

Ok, it's true that he has nothing to lose by asking.

This is a different situation, though. We're talking about wear from the owner, not a manufacturing mistake.

Maybe it's just Dodge, or maybe leather seats have different warranty.

I said that because when I was buying my P5, the dealer made a point to tell me that warranty didn't cover wear to the seats if it's caused by your ass- Well, he actually said and I remember "I usually have a comb in my back pocket and wears the seat, if you have something like that and it wears out the seat it's not covered by warranty."

But I guess it doesn't hurt to try.

cbcbd,

i hope that last post did not come off as being harsh, it was not ment to be and neither is this one.

personally i think whoever told you about the seat wear warranty when you bought your p5 was just being an asshole. when i bought my speed the dealer made no such comments.

dealerships want our money. yeah dodge and acura might be different, but customer service is key to the success of the dealership; so if they won' t replace something that costs them nothing but the 30 min to put it on, then i will take my money elsewhere.

once again, i am not trying to be a dick, just giving my .02

No fraying on my seat, only have 1,100 miles on it though. Also found the little compartment under the cd player is just about perfect for a wallet and cell phone.

I just found a store with new Tenzo-R Rally seats for $209 without brackets. I see a very likely upgrade in my future.

How can anybody put a wallet in their back pocket? I dont have a Costanza wallet, but man, I'm glad its in my front pocket now, or the cargo pockets :). No more back pain.

Oh no, I didn't you were. I hope I didn't come off as being harsh :)

Well, the sales guy I had was pretty cool and I understand where he was coming from. If I wear spiky pants that put holes in my seats should they replace it under warranty? Even if it takes 30min?

I just think it will be tough to find a dealership that won't care to give up 30min and materials to replace something that they might see as being caused by some guy's spiky-ass ass :D

I mean, yeah, he can try it, I want to see how they respond.

Actually, I have to shift my wallet to the side of my butt everytime I sit. It used to hurt my right cheek when I had my wallet right under it :D I guess I just got used to it. But for long trips I'll just take it out, I need all the comfort I can get without having to shift around too much.

I have about 2800 miles, and i have noticed a bit of fraying in my seats already... if i gets worse, im gonna moan and complain to mazda about shoddy build quality in a 20k car.
