Got a similar issue but on the Passenger Side. PS seat heats up but it takes significantly longer time than the DS. Curious to know how it can be fixed too...

A 2007 here... had the same issue about 4 months ago... had my dealer look into it during a service. Hopefully it's just the power not getting to your heater unit, because my power was fine so they quoted me something around $600 (parts and labour) to replace the heater!! Have your shop look into it...

I haven't priced the parts myself or looked into DIY yet, but plan to... not paying $600 just to get my seat heater working again!

Well, it's working now...sort of. When I first get in and switch it on, it heats up. But then, it shuts off once it warms up and does not seem to come back on. (screwy)

must be nice!! heated seats arent even an option on the MAzda5 up here in Canada! ( go figure, it's colder here, we really could use it too!!)

Wow! Does this include a new chair? I'm not too cray about heated seats but there are after market kits for DIY. I've seen them for ~50 for a pair. You do have to take the seat apart, which can take some effort.

In 2006 there was no luxury package. I would have bought it. First new car, and leather or heated seats were not an option on Canada for 2006

I never thought heated seats stayed on?? They should work like the rear defroster with a time off delay, not constant. Or household heating pad that must turn off after a preset period for safety reasons.

Every other vehicle I've had, you turn the heated seat, it stays on until it's switched off.

The only difference between the Mazda and others I've had is there is no high/low or dialed in setting, just on/off.

Having a separate thermostat for the seat heaters is a tad over-engineered and kind of silly. More to break and besides, there's no way to adjust the thermostat. How does Mazda determine what is warm for me?

I just had mine fixed under warrenty and they replaced the seat warmer and the thermostat, i'd try the T-stat first if you are going to DIYS!

And yes the thermostat does make a difference! i find on really cold days my seat gets almost too hot!
