basically when i switch to reverse most of the lights dim down and as i accelerate they get brighter i was hopping of dropping in some led bulbs for the front turn signals and rear brake lights but i'm sure they would not last long

as so how many people have a drop in hid kit did you use those anti flicker boxes cause when I'm at a red light the lights flicker a little

My lights definately do not dim at all whether I put it in reverse or switch my turn signals on. I also have a set of DDM HID headlamps and they never flicker. My guess is that your alternator is going out and/or your battery also. The fact that your lights get brighter when you accelerate should be a sign of a weak alternator. Also, HIDs flicker when not enough power is getting to them as opposed to the regular halogen bulbs which simply dim.

Replace the battery first, alternator might be fine but your battery is no longer holding much of a charge. But if that's the case, your alternator has to work harder and eventually it's going to die.

I don't have any dimming problems. Since you have a 2010, neither the battery or starter should fail that early (but ya never know). Did you do any wiring mods (lighting or amp) and is there a recent occurrence or always existed? Stop by Autozone and get a free battery check. If that clears and you have not done any mods, time to look into the starter.

the mods i have are
55watt driving lights wired to a relay that is tapped to the head light socket on the drivers side
35 watt hid for the low beam
led strips for the plate lights
5watt cree reverse bulb on right taillight only
added a amp to power a 10inch sub woofer

when i got the car i really didn't noticed it until i installed the drop in hid

i only have had the car for about 7k miles and the car is certified pre owned

im going to take it to auto zone some time next week
a big thanks to all you who replied to this thread

I also never had dimming problems with my 5. I would definitely change the battery, since you do have an amp & sub in your 5.

I did a full LED/HID conversion on my MPV and have no issues with dimming or flickering. If the 5 is newer and has low miles it could just be a grounding issue. I know it's hard sometimes but a central grounding point is the best source for any mods. If you ground to different sources like the block, frame or body, the different gauge metals react differently and can cause ground looping. I agree with everyone else, check the charging system and then go back and check your wiring. Your mods are only as good as the wiring & grounding points you use. Make sure you are using the proper gauge wire too.
