We know that we can not tow a Mazda 5 with an automatic transaxle, but would like to know if anyone tows one with the manual transaxle. If so, are there any special preps needed?
If the manual MZ5 has the same 5-spd manual as the Mazda6/Fusion (very likely) then you might be okay. I flat-towed my Fusion all over the country for several thousand miles with no issues. Finding a good baseplate kit could be the bigger issue. I wasn't satisfied with anything available for my car so I made my own.
If you mean flat towing the car, as long as the transmission is in neutral, you should be fine regardless of whether it is a manual or automatic transmission.
