I'm finally getting around to doing a few mods to Julie. I got the Shark Fin and the clear corners, and I just ordered my SU Cobb SRI. One of the things that I also want to take care of is that chrome fuel filler door. Chrome might be a good fit for some people, but not me. What are my options with this? I know I can have it painted, but I'd rather just replace it with an OEM 27A replacement. I've done some hard-core searching, but I cannot seem to source these.

Has anyone else replaced their fuel filler door? Where did you get yours?

go to ur local mazda dealership they should be able to get u the right part and i beleive they come painted as well to match ur stock color..then u can sell ur chrome one..

I wanted to make an update to this post for anyone that wanted to do the same thing that I did...

What I ended up doing was going to my local dealer, just like Gary recommended. What I ordered was an unpainted, unprimed fuel door for about $18. I took it to the same body shop that fixed my car when it got keyed and they painted it for $60. When I went to install the new door, I realized that I was missing a few parts: the fuel door spring that kicks the door out when you pull the release and two small rubber stoppers that attach to the inside of the door. I was able to order those parts from the dealership for about $8.

Here are the part numbers:
Fuel door ~ GK2A-42-410E
Fuel door spring ~ GA5R-42-451C
Fuel door stopper ~ GJ6A-42-459 (You'll need to order two of these)

So for less than $90, I got a beautiful new fuel door that isn't chrome! I should have done this a long time ago...

glad everything worked out for u Jay.. post some pics up!!!

Ugh... You're gonna make me go outside in the 40-degree rain just to take a picture of a fuel door? It's warm in here and there's football on my TV!

Fine...

Not horrendous, just not my style.

On a side note, those six socket-head bolts on the trim ring are incredibly cheap. The heads broke off of every single one. I had to order replacements so I could put it up on the 'Bay as a complete setup.

this is just a thought.. in no way should u have done this, looks way better with the factory door on there..

if that chrome, if its even real chrome..had a brushed alluminum look to it, and u got a set of rims to match it.. thats the only way i could see that door looking good on any speed 6.

Glad to see you fixed the mess someone else put on your car!

I wish this wasn't an option. At least the chrome one. The satin fuel door isn't as bad, but still not very good looking. I do, however, like the style, and have seen them painted, which looks really good.

Every time I see a Red Speed6 I sit back n drool.... Then I realize I HAVE ONE!!! Red is teh sexay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
