So I just drove my car about a quarter mile. The first 1/8 of it I was showing off and stomped on it pretty hard, all of a sudden CEL came on. As far as I can tell, the car still runs exactly the same..

How can I check what's wrong, and where do I go from there?

Go to Auto Zone or the like and have them pull the CEL code for you. Report back to us with the code and we'll go from there.

if you hit the rev limiter its probably just a misfire code. just clear it and it shouldnt come back unless you do it again

its probably a vacuum leak/boost leak, or a random one time thing. clear it and dont worry unless it comes back.

I second the vacuum leak, that could also be the culprit of your other issues from your original troubleshooting thread. Start at the intake manifold and slowly trace all the vacuum lines to the end, check for cracks, holes, and brittle crumbles from aging.

Maybe dumb question...How do I clear the code?

Disconnect negative battery terminal, pump the brake a couple times to discharge the system, and reconnect.

Do it while it's off, although if you go back to autozone most code readers should be able to erase codes if you ask them to. This has the benefit of not resetting your fuel trims if you care about that. Also, ask around for a good mechanic shop that has a smoke tester, it pumps smoke through your intake at low pressure to test for vacuum leaks. Might cost a few bucks, but it's the easiest way to do it.
