Car wont start after "installing" tt

went back to normal setup also, wont start. i guess something shorted, for one thing the blue and red wires touched at one point, some sparks flew. guess that was it.

either way, im calling dealership to pick it up, gonna get them to fix it back to normal.

sigh, im ******.

There's a fusebox in the cabin near where your left foot goes when you're not using the clutch. The cover just pops off. There is also a fuse puller in there.

There's another one under the hood on the driver's side near the strut tower brace. I don't remember what the fastener is on that fuse box, but I know you won't need tools.

There are diagrams of what each fuse means printed on the inside of the fusebox covers. Make sure you have the cover turned the right way when you figure out which fuse might be bad. You can pull out any fuses that you think might be bad and you can tell to look at them if they are. If not they just pop back in.

Good Luck. Maybe you can avoid the wrath of the dealer.

accidentially happened to me when i did the Fog Light Mod, i accedentially touched the wrong wire, and there were sparks, and my lights wouldn't come on. So just check the fuses under the hood, and in the dash. I'd bet my left testical that you just blew a fuse.

Most likely you blew a fuse. I did the same thing by accident installing my TT last weekend. The 60A box fuse under the hood...and it was incredibly hard to find a replacement. Several auto parts stores, 4 dealerships, 35 miles, and about 2 hours later I was back up and running...total cost of $1.82 :p

Anyway, also make sure you cycle the alarm (disarm/set/disarm) after you reconnect the battery cable. This also caused me some stress until I figured it out, but I think the alarm ignition kill was in play somehow.

If it's the ECU (very unlikely), you're fooked...

Peace...(hippy)

naw way his ECU fried-- i know this because I DRILLED THROUGH a MAJOR wire harness in the passenger side kick panel area in my old 90 nissan sentra (trying to install neons LOL). i tried to start the car- NO GO. I fried 4 relays (at $30 a piece!!!)

they initially thought it was my ECU ($1400) but it wasnt! :D whew!!

note to self: no more neon kits

is it possible to fry like 4 fuses? i sparked the blue/red wire like twice when they touched.

because the car wont start, the power wont come on, radio wont flip. only alarm/locks work.

fry 4 fuses with one incident? well- if a power wire, for example was pulled out of the radio and touched the cigarette lighter on its way down and touched the A/C controls and the alarm. thats the only way its possible. frying 4 fuses by touching just two wires isnt really possible unless its what i said above.

**EDIT** see: everything is on a different fuse (usually) like the cigarette lighter is on a 15 amp fuse (in my old nissan)
the AC controls were on a 20amp fuse and a relay. the radio was on a different 20amp fuse.

hmm, so i must have just blown the power fuse or something? i checked the box, there is no main power one. just seperate ones..is in under the hood then?

haha yeah, thanks for all the help guys. got alot of IMs..damn i love the people on this forum.'

and no i removed the TT. heh.

did you change the pin 2 or whatever it was on your alarm so it will not arm when the car is turned right off? if so disconnect the battery and reconnect it, I had the same problem, it activated the kill switch for the starter, after I reconnected the battery it worked fine,

but before I did that I called Mazda roadside and had my car towed to my house and then I figured out the damn problem, I still feel like a dumb idiot, OK I dont need anyone to agree with me either ;)

How did you splice into the ignition wire when installing the TT? and where did you get the power for the TT? You may have disconnected the ignition harness if thats even possible, or cut thought the wrong wire. Thats all I can think of if the fuses are all good.
