Car Seat problems

Tried to get a new car seat (rear facing) for the baby (little rugrat out grew her first one and she's not even a year!). The one we bought hits the passenger seat unless its all the way forward.

My wife is 5'10". I'm 6'3". The passenger seat all the way forward can't be an option. I tried Mazda customer service to see if they had head that one or another car seat fits, and they suggested contact the parts department of my local dealership (who is closed).

So, here's to hoping someone here might know of a good rear-facing car seat that will fit my little girl and wont require my wife to do yoga!

Thanks for any help you have.

How heavy is your tot? I've got a "convertible" rear/front facing car seat that shouldn't have any problems but I'll have to check. I'll get the name while I'm at it. I'm pretty sure any child in this kind of seat needs to be over a certain weight which is why I ask.

The car seat I have fits fine in rear-facing mode with the passenger seat in a mid-ish position. Only problem: They don't make it anymore. It's a Cosco brand car seat and it's about as basic as you can get in a front/rear facing car seat and it's good from 5 lbs. You may be able to find something similar near you.

Thanks. It's kinda frustrating. Well, maybe there is one out there somewhere.

Try the Evenflo Triumph Advance, its available in several different models at lots of popular retailers. Its affordable and the shortest distance front to back that I found. I currently have it behind the passenger seat. There is enough room that I have it slid up a few inches to make it easier to get my daughter in and out with the sliding door while still having room in the third row for my older one in a booster seat and enough up front for an average sized person. I'm 6'1 and I fit in the front seat as it sits, I'm not swimming around but its workable :) When the middle row is all the way back, there is room to put the passenger seat all the way back but that really closes down the 3rd row room.

This is the thread I had with other suggestions too if you want to poke around :

That being said, I dont get what vehicles the other seats are meant for. They are so long when they are at the required angle, its ridiculous. Oh and the Evenflo is at the right angle, no shimming required for level.

Update: TRU/BRU is doing their 25% off for trading in old car seats right now.

I have a britax car seat rear facing behind the drivers seat in the 5. I can still have the drivers seat all the way back. granted, the seat will touch when im driving (im 6'0'') but is totally fine with the wife.

Hope this doesn't sound stupid, but sometimes the simplest thing is often the most overlooked, so I thought I'd toss this out... You know the middle seats slide right? Is the seat you're putting the car seat on slid all the way back?
