i see the diagram, and im familiar with how relays work, but can someone explain in detail how this type of one wire system works. its confusing me a little bit.

thanks.

um, one wire, it's +, because that one wire, if lead to the chassis, meets a negative, creating a circuit? You need to be more speceific with your question, I don't think anyone understands what you are asking.

okay...i think i get it. sorry fror the general question, for some reason i am retarded today or something.

so, 2 relays, one wire each for Lock/ Unlock. got it.

Now, here is the question, are the Lock/Unlock wires active high or active low. ...

so to, lets say, lock the doors. you would ground the Lock wire? or would you give the lock wire +12V? i think its ground it, but im not sure.
thanks.

dexter or anyone else,

go to your car and lock the car, then unlock the car. don't open any doors though. does your car lock by itself?

i had diff problems with the car; the thing with the car locking itself automatically. what i discovered is that if you were to drive somewhere and get outta your car then just leave it unlocked then it will stay unlocked. however, if you leave your car and lock it, accidentally UNLOCK it, then the car will lock itself again because it didn't detect any doors being opened. does that make any sense?

2nd problem with the alarm going crazy has supposedly disappeared. it hasn't gone off while driving since earlier today. so i guess i'm relieved, for now.

damnit krillin, i know you got a problem with that stuff, but stop posting it in every thread.

YES the car locks by itself. thats not a PROBLEM, its designed like that if you accidentally unlock it. it will lock itself back up.

calm down woman...hee hee
i gotta be sure, ok? remember i'm a newb. :(

Then start a new thread in the correct forum, THIS ONE!

Hey Dexter, I think you just found out while alot of people just pm me and don't post :D.

The trigger signal for lock and unlock is a Ground reference.
Unlock is triggered by just ground.
Lock is triggered by ground through 1.5K ohms of resistance.
So if you were to take a wire splice onto the lock/unlock wire then tap it to ground, the car would unlock. Now put a 1.5K ohm resistor on that wire and again tap it to ground and it will lock the car.
