I ain't no expurt, but I'm pretty sure that locking up your brakes is not the fastest way to stop a car ...
I can stop my Car in a much shorter distance with HPS pads.
I can stop it in an even shorter distance with HP+ ....
"upgrading the pads does NADA in reality beyond altering the feel/pedal effort"
sorry .... hahahahahahahahahahahahaha ...
really? bet you can't. why do you think it takes longer to stop in the rain than the dry? do you think your brakes don't work as well in the rain? no...your tires don't work as well, thus lengthening your stopping distance.
the correct statements would be:
i can stop my car in a shorter distance with Falken Azenis.
i can stop my car in an even shorter distance with Hoosiers.
maybe less laughing and more thinking would be helpful here....

I agree with FasterP5....a LOT of stopping power happens before the brakes/tires actually lock up.....and for my (and most other people's) daily drivers, I hardly ever lock up the brakes...even in autoX. Any pads can lock up brakes, even the $10 pads at NAPA.
I do agree that in full brake lock-up, tires make a big difference, but only if your stopping the car at the limit of your tires.
i never said that locking your tires was the fastest way to stop the car. i said they were the limiting factor.
stronger pads only get you to the traction limit of the tires faster or with less pedal effort (something that many people confuse with "better stopping power").
so yes, while upgraded pads may change the characteristics of the braking system or the pedal effort required, as long as they are strong enough to reach the traction limit of the tires upgrading will not shorten your ultimate stopping distance.
in other words you'll be stopping shorter using the same pedal effort as before, but in a panic stop, nothing is different. my statement holds true: your brakes will FEEL better in normal use, but in the end, they're not stopping you any faster.
remember, brakes stop your wheels, but tires stop your car.
