Autozone coil causing lag?!

Hey guys the other day my car started feeling like it had a missfire as I was driving and started throwing a code. As I was still driving down the road it felt the the cylinders picked back up and I had all 4 again, so when I got home i undid the negative to clear the code and see if it would come back. It did not until the next day the same this started happening. I undid the negative/ then reattached it and the code was gone, but it was still missing. I unplugged one of the coil packs and the car still ran the same and did not die so I assumed i had a bad coil back which was causing cylinders 1 and 3 to miss. I was able to limp it to the autozone down the street, bought a new coil replaced it in the parking lot and it ran fine after i started it up. I noticed later that the car had terrible lag in boost (still reading 6psi on the gauge). The lag was way worse then before I had my reflash done. Is an autozone coil POS and causing the issue? I dont see why it would bring back my lag issue since the ecu (which was reflashed) controls ignition timing?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Go to autozone and try 2 new coil packs, see if the problem goes away. Nice thing about autozone parts is you can just exchange them under warranty any time.

Hmmmm..

Sometimes things that seem to be caused by something are actually not related.. it is normal to problem solve like this, but you could step back and take a diferent approach once you have exhausted all other idea..

It's probably just the ECU resetting and relearning it's settings, not the coil packs. Get new NGK ZFR6F-11 plugs and gap them to .028"-.032" if you haven't already.
I have had two Autozone coilpacks on my car for almost two years and 25k miles now with no problems at all.

Only one of the coil packs were replaced with an autozone one....so your saying but another?

I'm going to call tomorrow and see how much it is for new OEM ones. Anyone else have any suggestions?

ECU resetting because the negative was undone? This has never happened before when I've undone it. It did not start until I switched one of the coil packs out. A quick search showed that is may be coil related. Also I have ngk iridiums in there I'm just not sure the part number off hand....also the cars idle will drop low (like 2-300) as I'm coming to a stop and will go back up to normal once I come to a complete stop. It will then sometimes drop down again and ce back up a few times

Yeah that sounds like the ECU just relearning the fuel maps. After resetting the ECU the idle will be funky for the first 20 miles or 2-3 drive cycles then it will drive normal.

I guess I'll post after some driving tomorrow...but the weird idle started happening 2-3 days ago BEFORE I switched the coil or even touched the negative...thoughts?

What code was the CEL? Could be a dirty IAC, EGR or MAF, or bad O2 sensor or incorrectly gapped plugs. Do you have a boost gauge? Is the vacuum steady at idle?
