Anyone put a car top cargo carrier on?

I'm moving pretty soon and don't have much room in the back, with or without the subs. So I'm looking into a car top carrier. The soft ones look like they will scratch the hell out of my roof since we don't have any roof rails. The hard ones look ok, but I'm worried about how much our racks can handle. I'm only putting things like clothes, so nothing too heavy.

Anyone try this? Tell me how it went.

I have put on one from Sears, held 15 cu ft. The rack can support up to 150 lbs. Not a problem.
