Anyone have any drivability problems with their autoexe front lip?

I wanted it, but was afraid that it would scrape everywhere I go. I don't plan on dropping my car for sure. So anyone who has the lip, but is not dropped, could they tell me about their driving experiences? The slope of my driveway is rather steep and I don't want to eat up my car everytime I have to get out of the house. Thanks!

i have the dg motorsports lip and my car is lowered 1.5", i have to really watch the front. i scraped it a lot the firts day or two but now i got the angles down and dont have any trouble, just dont let your friends drive your car

Oh I have to add that my mom sometimes uses my car. Mom's driving your car = not good. Would it be that bad even if I didn't drop it?

is the urethane tougher than the dgm's fiberglass?
i'm looking to add this to an undropped car

KYMP5 was it easy to install, i've never done any mech work on cars

Urethane is almost always tougher than fiberglass. If you're gonna buy a DG front lip, it'd be better to buy the CF one. And if you're car is not lowered, you'll be fine unless you're a hard core driver.

What do you mean exactly by "hard core driver." I sometimes like to have a little fun in my car and take turns at high speeds...I'm almost sold on getting it...any further opinions???

I had a DGmotorsport front lip before w/o lowered. I have to say it really depend on the area you live in. I used to live down in LA, I really didn't have problem at all, maybe scratch it once in a while going on-ramp into gas station or shopping plaza. Else, most of the time I'd be driving on the highway which is PERFECTLY FINE, you won't have any problem if you drive on the freeway 80% of the times. However, after I went to college, I moved my car up to San Francisco, which has a lot of steep hills, bumps, dips, etc..I was hurting the lip bad, and my car (fiberglass scratch ur bumper paint). Thus, I decide to sell it and thinking of buying the urethane one see if it's better.

In your case, with highspeed sharp turn, I don't think you'll have any problem at all w/o lowered, but your drive-way may be a problem if it's steep. Additionally, since you're sharing the car with your mom, I can almost gurantee you that your mom will forget about the lip from time to time and go fast in a dip or something..then.. :(

Anyway, hope this helps, if you need addtional opinions, PM me.

Urethane is definitly better. Its rubbery and plyable, thus when it gets painted it's done with the flex-additive similar to other "soft" parts of the car (ie bumpers, side mirrors, etc). Nothing will stop it from scratching if you hit a steep incline, however you don't have to worry about cracking it because it's not brittle like carbon fiber or fiberglass.

Hey thanks Jliao for your opinion. I thought about whether I should get it all last night. If I do get it, it will be the urethane one, so at least I know that it won't crack. Getting out of the drive way won't be too bad as long as I get a good angle backing out and going up. Another thing, my mom has previous experience driving my brother's honda accord that was dropped with a front lip, and eventually she realized the difference and made the adjustment when she was driving. SO, I'm thinking that she's not going to NOT notice that I put something on the car. When my brother first got his lip (before the drop) he didn't have much trouble getting out, with an occasional short scratch but nothing more.

Hmmm...well I emailed AutoR&D about an inquiry.

Getting the lip only came to mind again since I've been seeing so many P5's around now. Practically everywhere I go. So I feel obligated to at least look rather different to an extent. I was initially going to get this mazdaspeed windsplitter that I could buy at the dealer but it seemed rather unnoticeable unless you are looking directly down on it.

I'm kind of still torn between the two.

Autoexe = pro: it looks dead sexy. con: driveability issues.
windsplitter = pro: it's small and looks nice (at an angle) con: hardly noticeable

Can someone give me an opinion from the windsplitter standpoint?

Yep. I forgot to mention that the reason I was replacing with urethane because my brother's honda civic. He spent awful alot of money (in the beginning) on his OEM civic lip front and back, first I thought was really expensive and wasn't worth of the money. However, after driving for almost 2 years and scratching everywhere, the lip is FINE! I was so amazed. Thus, I'm going to give urethane a shot, even tho they're expensive, but I think the price you pay is the kind of quality you'll get.

damn man, I scrape my car here and there backing out of driveway all the time, and I even scratched the side of the front bumper, on the sidewalk, and I am not dropped at all. our cars are so low to begin with...I really want the lip, but I park in the driveway, and I am scraping without it, well that does not paint a pretty picture in my head....maybe I'll figure something out.

Thanks guys! I think I've finally decided that I'm going to get it. Sucky thing is that the AC at my house is failing so I think we're going to have to get a new one. Don't think I should be unloading my money when that needs to be taken care of. I'll get it when I come back from Hawaii. I'll try to post an online postcard (if they have them?) when I'm in Hawaii. Thanks again! :D
