Anyone else check their oil regulary?

Just curious if everyone checks their oil on a rather regular basis. I am curious because it seems as if my car basically eats oil; like no jk, i just put in like 2.5-3 quarts about 3 weeks ago and the b**** was bone dry today. Kinda scaring me a bit actually. It means that the oil is going somewhere, maybe out the tail pipe in a puff of smoke, i dunno.

I have the current mods as of thus far:
Joe P mbc
Joe P fpr
Custom Spearco FMIC with 2.5 inch pipes
Injen CAI
Apex 2.5 inch
Custom 3inch Apexi N1 cat back
HKS ssqv
11 pounds of boost

Could the increased boost be blowing oil through the seals of the turbo???:eek:

So, does anyone else report low oil findings in their msp? I am used to an NA car, so i dunno if a turbo car has a tendency to consume a bit more oil then an NA car but I wouldnt be surprised if it did considering it is used to cool that hot turbo and all. Especially if it is taken on a long distance trip correct?

So basically, is everyone else losing a bit of oil from time to time?

more improtantly is how many miles did you drive in that time? it does seem very excessive regardless!
 
wow!! i thought only OLDER cars went thru oil that fast!!!
i never check mine and its been ALMOST 5500miles (most highway) since my last change. I need to get it done again asap.

Agreed. And an oil pressure gauge couldnt hurt. If the pressure is LOW and you are burning, then you have a leak.
 
I was just thinking about this last night. I put a lil under a quart last month and i checked it last night and it looks like its missing that amount again:( Azian, what weight/kind of oil are you running?
 
Hmmm interesting...maybe thats my situation, im just about to hit 3k so I will be changing it with Mobil 1 syn. this weekend. So hopefully thats it
 
i dont have any problem of oil comsumption
im use sinthetic oil amsoil 5-30

iknow about my others proteges

when modify the motor intake exhaust msd chip etc
the car begin to run lean in f/r and the motor heat and this
stick the pistons oil rings

maybe its the pcv valve? Didnt someone say that with higher boost our pcv valve would like blow oil out or something like that?
 
i just went and checked mine, changed the oil about 1500-2000 miles ago, and have been running it hard since i got the new plugs in. Oil is still completely full
running mobil one synth 10w-30
 
i am running mobil 1 15w-50 right now. The oil consumption was with regular non synthetic oil however.

Where can i go to get a caompression test for free? like autozone or something?

I am going to check again.
 
I check my oil and tranny fluid everytime I fill up. I also tend to notice the coolant level, not that I am trying to notice it, but it's right there.

Haven't had any problems since we started boosting, but the max boost psi I have hit in my car was 9psi. That was a one time thing, I usually don't go above 5psi, maybe 6.

I agree with getting your compression checked. With the MSPs it's really tricky finding these things out because nobody has excessive experience with them. Maybe something's up with your piston rings too.....hopefully it's not that your cam timing is screwed.
 
i'm all stock and changed my oil once.
i run 5w-30 100% syn.
its been about 3000 miles since the change and it has never gone down.

if your loosing oil try using a heaver weight like 5w-40 or 10w-40.
regular or syn. its your choice but the regular should not burn as easy as syn.

so, people who dont have an oil problem, are you running increased boost, or stock boost?

Also, where can i get a compression test done for minimo dinero or free?
Also, with the oil pressure gauge, is it mechanical or eletrical, or can it be either one?

Help, im burning oil i think. I can smell it when i accelrate and slow down. It is truly freaking me out. I cant go back to the dealer because i have too many mods. Im afraid!!
 
can you see it leaking anywhere, is the filter on good and tight? it could be alot of things, but i would think losing that much in that little time you would notice some smoke, or be really smelling it.
 
look the mufler and the bumper in the rear is completly black your oil rings are gone by detonation or one big spike in boost.
