Alright, Need Help, have questions about some after market parts

Hello, its been a while since I've bought this car and I'm ready to start doing small things to the car, mainly cosmetic just because it's such a nice car to begin with and I don't want to change much; but I have a couple questions that I just have not been able to find the answers to in months, so I'll get right into it.

07 Mazda speed6, black

1. Badgeless front grill, the only one made for a SPEED6 that I can find is CF which I really don't want, will the regular 6 badgless grill's fit on my SPEED?

2. I would like to put a short shifter in the car to reduce the throw and cut off some of the length on the stick, can any one recommend who to buy one from?

3. LED interior conversion, some thing to spice up my interior. I found a complete package a long time ago but since then have not been able to find one, if some one could help me out with a link. (im looking for red if that helps)

4. Short ram intake. I guess this one isnt really a question. I have a CAI in it now that the previous owner installed, but when it rains, it pours where I am and I just don't feel comfortable with a CAI on. Should I attempt to find one of those breathers and just hack it into some where in the CAI pipe? Or just buy a short ram from street unit or w/e else I can find one.

5. Smoked LED front reflectors, just plain out who do I buy from thats worth it? link would be appreciated.

I'm sure I have a ton more questions but I just cant think of any right now. If any one could help me out in any way shape or form I would appreciate it greatly.

Again, thanks.

Welcome.

1. Grille from regular 6 won't fit. You can find a fiberglass grille if you look (supershyguy on another forum made them).

2. TWM stage 2 shifter is your best bet.

3. No idea.

4. Would recommend you purchase a proper intake in whatever size you want. This car's ECU is very sensitive and if you hack something together you will probably regret it. Look for Cobb or Protege Garage SRI.

5. I am not sure of who offers the front signals in smoked. Maybe try RPM (the rpmstore.com). Personally I don't want to reduce the visibility of my car in any way.

There are lots of parts available for our cars if you look around. IMHO great platform as long as you don't try to make it what it isn't.

3. Ebay will have packages ofc. But i never trust these, if you go that route just make sure they specifically list how bright (Lumens) the leds are, cause lots of people end up with super crappy/dark LEDs that are worse than stock! My full LED conversion package was pieced together from superbrightleds.com. If you can stand researching, you can customize exactly what colors & brightnesses you want depending on each LED type...

here is a good read-up if you wanna do the research: HERE

4. if it truely does rain a ton and you constantly have to drive through deep puddles, i would definitly suggest a shortram with or without a cold air box to avoid hydrolock risks. But like cheif said, avoid hacking up intakes because of our cars finicky ECU...

5. Cheif is correct, RPM sells smoked side markers. A tad expensive, but when you get em you see the quality just about makes up for the cost. I have them in my ms6 and couldnt be happier. nice and bright at night. sleek and dark during the day. If you just want completely blacked out, use nightshade.

hope the additional info helps!
cheers

2. dont forget to buy the shifter bushings when u buy the twm stage 2 short shifter. They really help to clean up the sloppiness in the shifting

1 - You can get the AutoExe in CF, Nextmod in FG, or Speedline (ebay) in FG as well. The FG grilles go for about $150-200 new.

2 - TWM makes the kit. Stage 1 is just a reduction in throw, Stage 2 is reduction plus a 1" shorter stick. Doing the bushings while you install the STS makes the shifter more crisp and precise.

3 - There is a bulb listing in the 6 Car Audio/Electronics section. For your dome lights, a simple 194 LED will work. Superbrightleds has been my go-to LED shop, but there are other options out there. I went with a WLED-X6 for the dome lights, front door lights, and license plate lights, and am happy with the outcome.

4 - Definitely buy a hydroshield for the CAI if you plan to keep it. That is a necessity for wet climates. If you're set on a SRI, take a look at the Cobb SRI, and consider the turbo inlet as well. Also, CP-e makes a SRI/inlet combo, and PG does as well. SU has the Cobb in colors other than blue if you like.

5 - RPM sells the LED front corner lenses. Install is a breeze, and they are definitely more visible than stock. I don't recommend doing nightshade on them since you will effectively remove the reflection and eliminate a safety component. The LED corners sell for $70, but are a great look, especially on a black car. They really seem to blend in well. RPM also sells LED corners for the rear bumper lights if you want something else.

Hopefully we've answered your questions, let us know if you have any more.

Wow, I appreciate all the help, extremely informative. How ever I have a couple follow up questsions.

I'm assuming "PG" means ProtegeGarage?, never heard of NextMod and I was going to ask for a link but I just found it on google. The Streetline Ebay store, g*d help me, I couldnt find after two days of searching :\ (ebay for dummies any one?)

It's not that it rains a ton by me, but we do get some pretty damn big puddles and its just going to make me feel more comfortable that I dont have to avoid every one in feer of hydrolocking.

If I may ask for some informative information on the "turbo inlet", like what it does exactly, what would replacing it with a higher quality part do (just cleaner airflow I'm assuming?); and can some one spell out what SRI means for me?

Definite thank you batou79 for the LED links.

Every one, thank you for the info, but I have one more questions. About a front strut brace (if thats what they were called). A friend of mine who used to have a speed6 said that we already have a stock one and adding another one wont do anything but "actually hurt" our car. Is this true? I want to get one, but just for looks, some thing else for me to stare at when I open my hood. Is the top mount intercooler going to be in the way?

I've had that in my watch list for months. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

The TIP is the pipe that connects your intake to the turbo itself. An aftermarket TIP won't clean your air (that's your air filter's job ), it'll just be much less restrictive than the stocker.

SRI = Short Ram Intake

A front strut brace won't hurt anything. There has been a lot of discussion on this subject, the front of the MS6 is pretty heavily braced as it is so many feel you don't gain anything. I was able to score an AutoEXE front and rear brace set inexpensively, I personally believe that it did tighten up the front. Corksport has one that is much cheaper than the AutoEXE one if you are interested.
