I don't understand. Is that person stating that the compressor fittings he has on the Probe are too small for the milly compressor? or the other way around?
Jed - I was thinking the same thing man. Wondering, with the advent of mass production - they may have gone to larger I.D. compressor fittings for the 02'ish models with KL's. Hmmmm.....indeed a thought to chew on.
I have plenty of compressors down here at the pullapart nearby - like tons and tons of millys, 626's, and pgt's in there.
But line information and fitment - let me know bro!
I heard someone actually got this to work on this board some time ago when they did a protege KL - but was holding the info close to their chest. Anyone know something about that? I'd like to see if they know anything now that there's alot more support for KL swaps.
when you did the MTX swap did you swap to the MTX intermediate shaft? I've been told the ATX shaft is about 35mm longer and it wont bolt up on the kl bolt if its in a MTX
I pulled a different jackshaft from a mtx, but the bolt pattern was still different. So - I made myself an adapter plate (basically a steel plate "wedge" that bolted to the block, and has 2 nuts welded to it to allow the jackshaft to bolt to the plate).
and you can covert everything over to the probe full HVAC for lots of money but find a compressor would be the cheapest and easiest.
worst comes to worst you can find a compressor and mod the bracket
Looking at those parts he posted in that thread, on that site:
I can nab those from the JY! It's coming off a PGT (94) and it's all there! The only thing that has me a bit worried is this "custom hose" he talks about. Getting AC lines made up shouldn't be hard - but finding someone to do them will be my troublesome bother down here.
Heh. Funny to see that thread posted on here. All the information you'd ever need for a 3rd gen Protege is over there... but next to no one from here ever signed up over there. Meanwhile we're sitting on the collective database of 3 BJ platform specific forums that were merged.
No news on the car - just been driving the crap out of it for the past few weeks. Finally got my last bracket on the trans (trans upper/driver side to mount) - that stiffened it up a little bit so not so much flex on the exhaust (which seems to hate flexing......exhaust leaks FTL....).
I was making a U-turn the other night - and man......I drug the front over the very edge of the curb....scraped all to hell.
I'm looking for a cheap bodykit now. Doesn't have to have OMG carb0n f1berz on it....just something simple yet subtle. Then.....get ready for this.....50 dollar roller paint job. I'm gonna do it on my roof (clearcoat is eating away presently) for test. Looking to fill in the roof rack to make the transformation complete. So, roller paint roof I guess is next on the list of things to do. Shouldn't be too hard, and will get my hands prepped for "How To" paint the rest of the car.
The reason I'm looking at the rollerpaint idea - we just finished a friends mustang (old foxbody). At first (like 1-2 coats) I was like... "...seriously....wtf are we doing?" It looked really bad. Then...the more paint we put on, and wetsanding every 3rd painting pass - it started to level out and cover completely. Finally - after 8 coats - 4 wetsanding sessions - rough/smooth cut and buff session - glazing = that thing shines and the paint (seriously!) is perfect! I was sold.
Now.....to pick a color. Rustoleum doesn't have that many colors to choose from. I was thinking about safety orange, just for the hell of it......lol.
