**** MAZDA service. They SUCK anywhere you go. And if they are reading this, you all can KISS MY ASS.

Absolutely agree! I have been to a few Mazda dealers for serive here in Vancouver. None of them really provide satisfactory service and they are not cheap too...

Hope Mazda Canada would improve the quality of serive provided by their dealers soon....

what i think about their service

1. they suck
2. careless
3. slow
4. rip off

DO IT YOURSELF. GET THE BEST OF THE BEST PARTS OUT THERE WITH A DECENT PRICE.

"my dad told me to get the 30,000mile check up, so we have no problems, so i took there. (rosenthal mazda), arlington VA. And I went with the green team...b/c the dealer who sold me the car said they're good. the red team looked like they were slackers chewin on tobacco, and blue, just too busy. So I go there, and drop off the car 9 am, and chilled around the area...said that they'll call when they're done..maybe around 12. I had work at 5. no call, so i called, and called, and called...they said not yet. i went to go check on my baby(car) a couple times...and it was sitting in the lot already done around 4:15. i call again, and they said ok , its done. found out that they forgot to put a bolt back on my header's shield. Told them to take their time, but deng...seem like they weren't persistant. Parts writeup man didnt know jack about the MP3 and didnt show me what was done. I checked everything though...DONE"
Took it back for problems with steering rack, bushings and front stabilizer links under warranty. They told me the rear was not under warranty. but what are the green, red, & blue teams? I know what they do on US aircraft carriers, but not in Mazda Service Centers.
Thanks, Jim

That all depends...got a pic?

I think service varies depending what dealership you go to. I know that Marlin Mazda in North Miami sucks ass the worst, and Bird Road Mazda bites too but Mazda of Fort Myers so far has been ok. The only service that I can say is great is Lexus, they treat you like a fricken king and set up with a brand new Lex loaner.

i was trying to explain to him that i had just got the car not to long ago and the dealer put the stickers on there, he didn't believe me but i wasn't trying to push the issue if ya know what i mean. I got fined 50 dollars.

I don't know about where you live, but in NJ it's the owner's responsibility to ensure the sticker is on there. And techinically, you should have doubled checked to make sure it was. I can understand not thinking about it though.

I took my car in for it's first oil change normally it's 15 mins right, wrong it took those a holes 2 freaking hours and charged me 55 dollars. I got synthetic but damn 55 bucks.

Sure, the job takes 15 mins, but when they have people to service before you, you have to wait. First come, first serve. and $55 isn't absurd for synthetic. I change my oil myself and between the oil and the filter it costs me $30. I'll admit $55 is high, but that's why i change it myself.

I took my truck to get it service, i left it there they was suppose to call me to let me know what the situation was, they never did. I tried calling them several times but they returned my calls. Every time i called their the dumb b**** that aswered the phone put me to the service guy voice mail. I was finally able to talk to the trick, i told her that i dropped my car off their this morning it is almost 4pm i get off at 5pm and know one has called me back yet, guess what she said, whould you like his voice mail. I hung up the phone and caught a ride over and got my car. I had to take my car in cuz the service light came on and was blinking, I left it there again. I told the service guy that i was going to be their around 7 to leave the keys in the car locked and to leave it in front he said ok. I caught a ride their. I went looking for my car, could not find it luckily my salesman was still their he took me around to their back parking lot. There was my car in this Locked parking lot i was able to get on the lot. My car was open and the keys were not in it. My salesman was nice enough to loan me a jetta for the night. I was so ******* angry i rode that jetta till that b**** was smokin when i got home. So the next day i went up there, i got my keys got in the car turned it on and the ******* cel was still on. I went back to the service guy i said " wtf did you guys do with my car all day yesterday you didn't f in call me you did't f in fix my car and you left my car unlock". He said " i'm sorry sir but were really busy yesterday". I said **** you and walked off. One of the tech heard me and came out to talk to me. He went back to get that tool that is used to reset the codes. He was done in about 3 mins. I change my own oil now on both vehicles and if i need a part, i will ask you guys advice and then buy it online. I think my next car will be a freaking kia.

Man, that does suck.

A bolt fell out of the heat shield and it took my local dealer 3 weeks th get that bolt replaced.

Last week the check engine light came on in the Protege. The car lost horsepower and would stall when you turned on the AC. I went to Auto Zone because they can check vehicle computers for free. Auto Zone said that the MAF sensor was the problem.

So yesterday I went to Galpin FORD/MAZDA to have them check it out for warranty reasons. I went to Galpin in Prescott, AZ and they said that they wouldn't be able to see me until next week sometime. I told them what the car was doing. Then they said to go out to the Galpin in Dewey, AZ. So I made a 1 o'clock appointment with the Mazda dealer in Dewey.

After 30 minutes, Galpin of Dewey said that they couldn't work on the car because it was too new and they wouldn't get the computer program for it until next year.

I'm getting a little angry with MAZDA by now. I drive all the back to Prescott and have a VERY one sided conversation with the service manager.

To make a long story short I am driving a 2002 Ford Focus loaner car and they will be working on our car this week.

See Ya,

Bill

I don`t know about you guys, but my dealership SUCKS BIG BALLS!!!! Not only do they steal the chainge in my car, but they also ******-UP my front bumper!!!!(rant) In the state of Nevada, it is a requirement to have both the front and back plates on your vehicle (although there are some people around here that drive around w/ just the back plate). When the morons where putting on the front plate....the asshole`s measurements were off, so he decided to drill around until he got it right.....ABOUT FIVE TIMES!!!! And to cover up his mistake, he put a crappy dealer plate on the front!!! And to top it off, when checking my fluids...he forgot to put my oil dipstick back!!! Luckily, I always check my car out after any type of work that has been done. Oh, yeah....he also tried to run off w/ one of my cds. Needless to say, that person does`nt work there anymore....and the dealership won`t repair the damage done to my front bumper!!! I`m still fighting w/ them about this issue, and it`s been already a month(bicker) !!

None of this surprises me. And I tell ya, it's not just Mazda. These are the same reasons why I left my Honda dealer. I loved my Honda's, but my dealer had a major attitude, and just flat out ignored me. Now, I can stand a lot of crap, but when people just flat out ignore me, walk past me, or don't even listen to me when I'm telling them what's wrong, I get very upset.

Hence the reason why I went to Mazda

Now, for the most part, my service guys at my dealer are excellent, but they to can be somewhat....deaf.

Example. My back passenger brake was squealing when it heated up, everytime I put the car in to get bushings done, I asked them to check into the brake. It damn near took 4 times of taking her in before I got my brakes done. That stuff annoys me to no end. I understand being busy and all, but when I ask for something to be done, and I'm told it will be done, and I wait all day for the car to be done, only to get it back unfinished....it pisses me off. and When I do this 4 times in a row....arg

Thankfully, my dealer has some new staff that are more on the go. Out of all the dealers I've worked at or been too, Penney Mazda West is awesome.

I'm hoping what I'm about to say doesn't sound sexist, but here goes:

My dealer (Berge Mazda in Mesa, AZ) has a few "service managers" that don't actually work on cars, but they arrange, schedule, and follow up on service. I like this set up because you aren't depending on the mechanic to communicate with you - which they don't often do well because they are very busy, etc.

One of the service managers at Berge is a woman, and I tell you, it makes all the difference. She displays a lot of patience and compassion which are traits not often found in the auto service industry. I've seen her deal with other customers who know nothing about cars, and she doesn't hold that over their head - in fact she takes a lot of time to make sure each person understands what's been done.

andy_guerriero,

Where exactly is Berge Mazda located?

Galpin MAZDA has had my car for 2 days on a check engine light that Auto Zone said was the MAF sensor. I haven't heard from them yet. It like they just move my car around on their lot.

I'm not real pleased with the service department at Galpin FORD/MAZDA of Prescott.

I'd drive the 2 hours to Mesa for good service.

SIDE NOTE: June 1, 2003 there is a car meet and mountain drive in Prescott Valley. We are meeting at the Denny's on Hwy 69 at 10 AM
Later,

Bill

I'm in for the meet - I posted in the AZ forum.

Berge is on Southern just west of Alma School in Mesa. So you would take the 60 East going out into the east valley, get off at Alma School, go north to Southern, and hang a left. Ask for Michelle and she'll set you up.

On a side note, they also have a terrific rotary mechanic that has helped me solve problems on two different RX-7s. :)

Here is a copy of the begining of a letter I am thinking about attaching to the MAZDA CARE SURVEY. Of course I'm not finished with it because I still don't have my car.
(The FORD FOCUS loaner car does get around 27 MPG.)

Dear MAZDA,

I purchased a 2003 MAZDA Protege 5 from Galpin FORD/MAZDA of Prescott Arizona in February of 2003.

After 5000 miles I noticed that a bolt had fallen out of the heat shield on the exhaust manifold. I took the car to Galpin FORD/MAZDA. They said they had to submit it to MAZDA for warranty reasons and for me to come back in a couple of days. A few days later I called and talked to Mark in Service. He said the part was not in and to call back next week. The following week I got the same speech. It eventually took them three weeks to install a bolt that fell out of my engine.

On May 12, 2003 I tried to start my car. It would not start on the first try as it normally did. It took several tries to get it started. After I finally got it started I had to manually rev the RPMs up 1000 to keep it from stalling. I noticed the check engine light was illuminated. I was not real happy that a check engine light would come on at only 7200 miles. I took the car for a drive and noticed that the power band was not where it had been previously. The car would not reach the power band until 5000 RPMs. This makes it unsafe to make left hand turns without an arrow or exit from a private drive onto a busy street. I also discovered that the car would not idle with the air conditioning turned on. Thus causing the car to stall at traffic lights and stop signs. The car stalls regardless if it is in gear or in neutral.

I talked to some acquaintances from the Phoenix, Arizona area who also own Proteges (all models including MAZDASPEEDs). It was recommended to go to AUTO ZONE because they perform free diagnostics checks.

On May 13, 2003, the AUTO ZONE in Prescott, Arizona hooked up their portable computer to my car and read the codes. Then they entered the codes into their main computer network. They said that my MAF sensor was the cause for my check engine light being on.

On May 15, 2003 I phoned Galpin FORD/MAZDA and informed them of my situation. Mark said that his computer was down and to call back next week to make an appointment.

On the morning of May 19, 2003, I drove to the dealership in Prescott and talked to Tim in Service. I explained my situation. Tim told me that his computer was down and to call next week to make an appointment. I informed him that was what I was told last week. He then told me that his MAZDA tech was out of town and that he would be back on Friday, May 23rd and that the tech had a workload already waiting. I reiterated my situation again. Tim asked me if I had been to Galpin's other dealership in Dewey, AZ. I said no. So Tim called that store and made a one o'clock appointment for me.

I arrived at Galpin in Dewey shortly before one o'clock. They took my car immediately to a service bay. About thirty minutes later they told me that they couldn't work on my car because it was too new. The service rep said that it usually takes MAZDA about 9 months to update the computer. I told him that AUTO ZONE had a computer that could read my car's ECU and they diagnosed the problem as the MAF sensor. He was dumbfounded at that point.

He called the Prescott store and talked to them. He then told me that their computer was down and to call next week and make an appointment with them for next Monday or Tuesday. (Monday is Memorial day).

By now any reasonable and prudent person would be getting upset with the quality of service. I am no different. I drove all the way back the Galpin of Prescott and had a one sided conversation with Tim. By three o'clock in the afternoon I left Galpin in a 2002 FORD FOCUS loaner vehicle. My Protege was left there with about 7500 miles on it.

On May 23, 2003 I had not yet heard from the dealership. I called and talked to Tim in service. He said that his tech had used the old computer and diagnosed the problem as the MAF sensor and couldn't understand why Galpin in Dewey couldn't work on my car. He did tell me that his new computer arrived yesterday (May 22).
Tim also told me that the new MAF sensor had been ordered and should arrive on Tuesday the 27th of May.

Respectfully,
