626 IM questions.

Hi All,

So, I recently installed the 626 IM on my MSP. My question is should I cap both end of the EGR tube? I capped the exhaust side and left the intake side open. I have a CEL, but haven't have a chance to read the CEL yet. Please help, any input will be greatly appreciated.

What I did on my old P5 when I first got the 626 IM and didn't have the 626 EGR pipe, was cut the stock Protege pipe and put a breather filter on it right off the intake manifold. That kept the engine happy and the CEL off. I left about 6 inches of pipe from the intake side and just stuck a tiny breather on it like people do to the valve cover.

I see. Thank you for your help KrazieFox. I am also having problem with the fuel rail not being stable due to engine vibrations. The 626 only has two mounting locations for the fuel rail and the msp IM has four. How do you keep the rail stablize on the 626 IM? One of my inject broke an o-ring and had a fuel leak.

I haven't had any such problems with mine, and I've had it for over 3 years now. Did you transfer over the mounting spacers from the Protege fuel rail? I only have the two bolts stabilizing mine and it's been fine for a long time..

So, I could do the filter thing on my NA P5 egr pipe and quit pumping unneccessary carbon into the motor and have no CEL or any other issue besides less carbon fumes going into the intake?

Correct. just remember to cap the port and the exhaust manifold.

Of course, only it's a header, lol. Wait, you said cap port and exh mani....you mean put short breather on egr tube from TB & cap header? Or did you just plug the port on the TB and cap exh? May do this and the TB coolant bypass mod at same time since I have been laming out on that one for quite some time.

If you cap the egr tube on the intake you'll throw a code so that side needs a breather (insufficient air flow to the egr valve). Cap the port on the exhaust header.
