2012 tranny leak

I know that this is like Monday morning quarterback but have you checked that dealer out before buying the car there on BBB or DealerRater.com?
Just a small update: Haven't heard anything from the dealer, I mean nothing. I don't even know if they got the van on Tuesday. The service guy didn't say when they would look at it, I figured it would have at least been this week. They could have at least called and let me know it actually got there.

Dealerrating had no reviews and BBB gave it an A+ with only one complaint in 3 years. Guess I am just the lucky one.

So of course they couldn't find anything wrong. They didn't even see any fluid around the tranny. And they said the fluid level was on the middle of the dipstick. I checked it four times following the manual and it was on the low mark. I still don't think they are looking in the dipstick tube area. When I talked to Mark the service head I said I saw the leak around the base of the dipstick tube and saw fluid on a small black plastic piece that is near the tube. His response was there is no plastic piece there. Well actually there is, so that tells me he never checked from the top of the engine down. When I said yes there is a plastic piece there he had no response. So they tell me there is no problem found yet the first time I brought it in they saw the fluid on the tranny and had to wipe it off, the second time they had to add 3 oz to the tranny to bring it back to the full mark. Any fool can see there is a problem. I'm driving down to pick up the van tomorrow and will be visisting a few car dealers to see if I can trade it in on anything besides a Mazda.

Do you have photographic evidence of the leak? Although at this point it doesn't even matter anymore. You're not going to get anywhere with those dicks.

Sounds like your local Mazda dealer really sucks. I'd walk away too. There's plenty of other fish in the sea. Good luck with your trade-in.

I've gone through frustrating situations like yours twice with Honda and once with Toyota. Also twice with Ford. It seems to be pretty standard. Now when I come across a decent car or truck I drive it until the wheels fall off. For example, my F150 has 293,000 miles on it.

For the record, I have 34,000 miles on my '09 5 and it is doing fine. Had the recalled PS pump replaced and that's it other than oil changes and a tranny flush at 25,000 miles.

Good luck on whatever you do. Sorry to hear of your frustrations.

Sounds like you are having a terrible dealership experience but you do seem to have a problem. I can’t image how a transmission seal can leak in such a new car, unless you have a lemon (or cranky assembly employee?). I can also see why the dealer is reluctant to acknowledge any problem. Isn’t this the same 5 speed auto that is carry over starting from 2008? Calling Mazda USA is the way to go. If not, NHTSB to report a serious problem...
