Ok, I need to some tech help. Just got in my brand new 2006 taillamps and need to know how to remove the side panels so that I can access the plugs in order to change out the complete tail lamps. Is the any write ups or ideas? I tried googling to no avail.(thought)

There are 2 bolt covers on the inside edges of the tail lights (seen only with the hatch open). Pop those off carefully with a small flat blade screwdriver, and you will expose the bolts that secure the tail lights. After removing the bolts, carefully wiggle and pry the tail lights from the pillars. There are a couple of studs on the tail lights that snap into plastic plugs in the body, and those take a little effort to pop out. Some silicone spray on them will help them release easier. If you have to pry, carefully use a plastic pry tool. Use masking tape on the paint if they are really stuck.

There is no access to the bulbs inside. Removing the tail light is the only way to access the bulbs. Removing the inside panel covers is not necessary.

ok, I did that, however, in order to completely replace or in this case I am changing out my 2009 style to 2006 style so I have to get to where the plug connects. The plug end in in the pillar.

Ah, sorry, I missed that. The screws for the side panels are under square caps just under the side widows, and if I remember correctly the cargo tie hooks hold them in place. Once you have them out, the other clips just pop off.
