Tonight when i was leaving work i started by car, as usual, and attepted to shift gears to Drive. Unfortunally the gears seemed locked and did not want to shift our of park . Finally after stuggling for a little while it seemed to go into drive. Now the problem is that the transition from park to drive seems "harsher" to me then it was before and now i can hear a slight sound, a kind of a click, a few seconds after i put the car into gear (i don't remember if it was originally like this). My car only has 13000km on it and is generally not diven hard. Also there have been NO MODDIFICATIONS of anytype, its completly stock. My question is 1. is this a transmission problem and 2. is the transmission of a 2002 protege5 covered by mazda (i lost my warenty book conveniently). Thanks for your help

Well generally the transmission is covered under a bumper to bumper warranty. :D

hey grzenda and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to our Club. There are TWO BIG fridge'S in the corner with anything you can think of in them...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. (stash)

make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!! (stash)

as for the warranty on your car....YES you are covered...get that baby into a dealer as soon as possible. We will assume you baught the car new?

i had the same thing happen to my trans ...i took it into the dealer, they put in a shift kit that fixed it for about 6 months then its started to happen again but they said they can't find anything...so i dunno what to tell you.
