151MPH in the MSP

oh yea. its possible. It was pulling really hard still. With gearing changes i really think 180mph would be possible with allmost no work.

Greddy Turbo Timer had a peak speed of 243 km/hr which is 151mph. I wasnt sure how much the speedo would be off, because it was really far past 140. That was sitting at about 6500rpms.

I'm still shaking from the run. (boom07)

Car felt really good at that speed, and it climbed suprisingly quickly.

Microtech standalone = no more govenor.

and i did this on about the closest thing to a damn track there is around here. Not another car was seen the entire night, specifically during the run. The only person at danger was myself. I'm not wreckless, careless or stupid thank you very much. Its much more dangerous for some asshat to be weaving through traffic at 80 mph than it is for me to do 150 on a deserted straight road.

but lets not get into that argument. I wanted to start a discussion of top speed possibilities in the speed, because i dont know of too many people that have actually gone this fast, and what their views on increasing top speed were.

I did over 220km/h once on the highway.... wasn't hard to get there at all I only have catback+boostcontroller back then

that is nice. i don't think there is anything wrong with testing the limits of a car if your in a clear area where you put only yourself at risk. and i don't think he would lie about reaching this speed, because what would he get out of lying about it.

i dont think 180mph is possible with the speed .. i dont know why but i dont think so hehe

i dont believe it until i see some proof in the form of video

Maybe this weekend. I need to find someway to rig up the camera to record though. I wouldnt feel safe driving that fast with one hand on the wheel... that would be asking for death.

i know pirana has been up in those numbers in his nsx. perhaps even higher.

And i just meant in their MSP's... i know lots of people have actually driven a car faster than this. Just in the MSP its pretty damn hard with the govenor on there.

do like how someone else did they put it on the steering wheel and strapped it there somehow. asian6er did that i think. at least thats how i remember his name.

Warning! Threadjack!

Went 181 mph in my "other" hot rod about 10 years ago. 1979 10th Anniversary Trans Am. At that time had a 12.4 to 1 race gas 467 c.i. beast motor. Original 4-speed car, 3.23 rear end and ran it up to 7200 rpm. My mph calculation didn't account for tire growth, which surely occurred. My evidence is that my windows were down and it sucked the headliner out of the car. Damn thing still has no headliner. Would have rolled them up, but had these blinking blue light things in the rear view...at least temporarily. That's what you get for having a 600 hp T/A in the driveway and Smokey and the Bandit is on the late movie, lol.

FWIW, I welded 7 of 8 rod bearings to the crank, and turned it blue/purple. The block split right through the mains. Turns out motors with 4.21" stroke don't like 7200 rpm without mods I didn't have. Yes, I got away. Coasted the last mile or so and still cooked the rotors turning onto my road.

Now it has a safe 9.25 to 1 462 c.i. pump gas motor (built by me...with a rev limiter...TYVM), and it still lays two stripes when I hit 4th at 80-90 mph. I love my MSP, but there's something special about a ride that sets off every car alarm within 2 blocks...with mufflers. Every bike short of a 'busa is afraid to try me. Funny thing is, it's only about a 12.5-13.0 car because of traction. A properly built MSP can do that. The bikes don't know that though!

What I'm getting at here is that I've been 180+. I don't want to do it again in a street car on the street, and I sure as hell don't want to do it in my MSP. If someone else does, I pray they're on the track with the proper safety equipment. Be careful guys. I got lucky trying to break the sound barrier. You might not.

I have my doubts about the aerodynamics of the car allowing 180mph. I had my mp3 up to just over 130, but it was a long long LONG road. I've never really pushed my speed past 110 before. Not sure why, but I just never. 150 seems a "bit" much but then again I've hit 145 in my old 97'lude and it was still going so who knows...maybe

180 would not be possible unless you re-geared your transmission.....unless you had over 300 hp there is no purpose for even doing that anyway.....My car can hit about 138-140 before it shuts off. I found that out going down a hill and i was no where near 6500....so I am not doubting he did it...but why even come up with the though of going 180 in our cars....that would be plain stupid, even if you had that much hp on a rebuilt motor you wouldnt be able to keep up with cars that could go that fast stock.....

i can get up to the speed govenor pretty quick and the car is definately still pulling so with the microtech and a few other mods i see it feasable. What kind of tires are you trusting at those speeds? Im pretty sure the stockers arent meant for that kind of speed. (180mph)

Not sure why most of you have such a hard time believing that daedalus hit 151MPH. The car is governed close to 140 (stock) and he does not have a governer. I've hit the governer several times with more RPMs to play with. I'm not saying that it is not scary, but I believe that 151 is totally possible with his setup. Don't hate cause his s*** is faster than yours!

Congrats man...personally i don't have the balls to go that fast. I lost control at highspeeds in a monte carlo about 4 years ago and now I am a pussy. Its ok though I didn't buy the msp to break the sound barrier.
