Hi Guys,
My 08 GT 80000km. auto transmission
I am having problem with shifting from 3-4.
When around 3300rpm, upshifting from 3 to 4. I feel a big kick on the transmission.
All other gear up or down are ok. Only 3 to 4 with over 3300rpm..(when below 3000rpm is fine)
Any idea anyone???? Am I still under warrant with 3years and 80000km?
ATF looks good and still red colour.
Thank you

Ed

Has the fluid been replaced recently?

I would start by unhooking the battery for about 10 minutes to reset the PCM. My other vehicle has an electronic a/t with adaptive shifting like the Mz5. I have had to reset the a/t computer on a number of occasions for sporadic shifting when going from highway cruising to city traffic. It just never seemed to re-learn fast enough to keep from being annoying.

With that being said, I'm not discrediting a mechanical issue, but a simple test to see if it could be electronic based is to reset the PCM back to stock condition and see if the issue persists.

Same Here

2006 with 54000 miles. Started out rough 3-4 then lost 3 and 4 gear altogether. Replaced transmission under CPO warranty.

1. Disconnect the battery, as stated earlier.
2. Make sure the fluid level is correct, while hot, while running, after changing through all of the gears.
3. Get the dealer to witness the problem. If they deny there is an issue go to another dealer.
4. Don't put aftermarket ATF fluid in a vehicle that is under warranty in the future.

Thanks guys. I will give it a try and update it to all asap.
Thankyou very much

Try everythings but still got the problem. It only happen when the outside is warm and the AT after warm up too. It was ok in the winter (Cold Temp. in Calgary).
Finally, took it to the Mazda this morning. I hope they can find out what happen before 100000KM up. The car right now is 97300KM and should still cover by Mazda.

When you say 'OK' do you mean that there were no shifting problems at all when it was cold? My suspicion would be the ATF, a shift solenoid, or transmission (transaxle) fluid temperature sensor.

Hopefully your dealer will find the source of the issue.

"Flcruising" yes shifting no problem when it cold but when warm up or hot outside, only 3rd to 4th having a big kick. All other up or down shift 1-2,2-3,4-5,5-4,4-3,3-2,2-1 no problem.
Got the 5 back with the new ATF few weeks ago. Dealer told me to drive about 1500km with the new ATF and see the problem is still or not.
1500km is up and still same problem. Back to the dealer today and they did a test on the AT (didn't know what kind of test and how it turn out).
Now, waiting for Mazda Canada to see what they will do to the AT. Dealer said sound like new AT will put in because the 5 is still under 100,000km or 5yrs warranty (98700km, 4yrs and 4mths).

Both auto and manual are same problem.

Just got a call from the dealer, Mazda Canada said new AT replace next week.
Thx Mazda.

Wow, thread revival.

That's great news that they are addressing the issue in a satisfactory manner. I'd still like to know what was going on.

Drop off the M5 for two days. Got the car back from the dealer yesterday with the new AT replace. Invoice show (wow)CAD$4450. Luck that my M5 still under warranty (only 1300km left before the warranty run out)! I didn't need to pay the bill. Save me big $$$. (canada)
BTW, Dealer did all the test they could but find nothing. They can tell there is 3rd to 4th problem. Dealer said will send the AT back (Mazda Canada???) and they may take it apart and see what happen inside!
