Zoom Zoom Live (Boston Aug. 19-20)

Great time everyone! Andrew, if we go karting I'll give you that keychain. If not, I can drop it off before you leave or worst case, mail it to you...but you'll get another one in Georga anyway right?

maybe...maybe not (shady). I'd still like to get it back tho. Anyway, I'm gonna talk to some of the guys at work and see if we can't get a group together for Wed. August 30th.

it was a blast! the miata was tons of fun, i also enjoyed the mazdaspeed6 (and didn't think the clutch was that weird, but maybe the cars i got were different). so a great time! too bad i don't have my camera anymore, otherwise i would've snapped more pics.

bad news tonight though: was helping a friend move and while backing out ofa driveway in pouring rain, ended up putting a 14" long curb rash on the front wheel and a 3" long rash on the rear wheel... ouch! used stock wheels, here i come!

I loved the clutch on the RX-8 not so much on the MS-6 I think it takes some getting use to... but that's just me. I love the handling on it though the Rx was a handling dream as well.

hehe I got back at like 10:45

It was a good time though. got to drive the 5, MS6, CX-7, and MX-5. I really think the 5 was my favorite though, it's cool to see a weird car like that feel so agile.

you do better going straight head!!! sorry man!!

Great to meet some of you guys finally! :)

I thought things went well. The threat of rain kept the lines low today, but at around 8am, it had stopped at least.

I left around 2pm and came out to see my car sitting alone.... doh! Where'd everyone go??? (It started pouring just north of the site on my way out at around 2:10, so I left in time.)

Coming home, 24S was doing 15mph because even with Rain-Ex on the windshield, you couldn't see 20 feet in front of you.

Hung around for most of the day with seanmcsean & I did the MS6 a coulpe more times, once with sean as a passenger. (I thought there were a couple of you that also wanted a ride?) :D Then on another run, Stu found a lady passenger that had the biggest fear that the cars were going to roll over. When I told her I do this almost every other weekend, even after reassuring her that it won't roll, her face went white. She didn't realize the ride she was in for.

Good time meeting you all and hope to catch up with you. You gotta get out to some auto-xes with your own cars! The worst you're gonna do is just hit cones! (And you don't get thrown out for hitting them either unless you're just being rediculously out of control... I've only seen 2 people kicked out in 8 years for trying to 'drift' through the whole course)

Oh, sean and I both got within .1 for the Matched time in the 5. That thing was fun.

I ended up with 125 pts and got meself some Bose headphones. Not bad for free entry. :D

Yeah that was annoying.. I wish you could have more than two attempts.. One of us would have nailed it if that was the case!

FYI - The RX8 with the appearance package was Phantom Blue Mica. What a sweet color that is. The MS3 has an option for Cosmic Blue Mica so hopefully that is similar. Can't judge pics via a monitor though. Looks way different in person.

^^ I drove by that autocross while it was in progress this past weekend.

(my post was too slow :P)

KC, I would have loved to go on a ride with you...but we decided to hit some of the other events before making our way to the 99 for lunch.

Oleg (Astral) and I were talking about doing some AutoX in the future. Let us know when there is an event in the greater boston area. I doubt we would be competitive (Oleg has a bit of a lead foot in his RX-8 but not that I should talk. I'm not too great myself and my Protege5 isn't exactly a race winner).

Andrew (aMaff ) and I did pretty well with the match time also. We used a stop watch and waited at the finish line for the exact moment to lurch past the flags. aMaff got within 2 seconds and I was within a 1/2 second.
