Z828 and Sirius

just got around to plugging in the SIR-Ken1 sirius tuner in the MP3 with the 828 HU...Problem is the deck does not see the tuner if you plug the tuner in while the unit is on it sees it as a cd changer on the source button you get tuner>cd>ch>all off, after you shut the car off I lose the CH...

I have tried reset, pulling the fuse, checked connections etc...any thoughts

does anyone have the sirius SIR-KEN1 working with the stock HU z828 ? I am thinking that since the 828 is older it may not be as plug and play...maybe a secret menu somewhere ?

i called crutchfield about the stock kenwood unit being compatible. they said it would not be. i had to buy anther HU and then i got the sirius tuner.

Intresting...the book from the SIR-Ken1 says it is compatible with all sirius ready HU's....but then again

yours came with a z828? mine had a Z919. maybe the z828 is compatible. the guy at crutchfield said that although it was a kenwood, it was probably made by a different company since it came stock, or something like that. either way, it would not work with mine.

yes in canada we got 828's that were sirius ready apparantly

It's offcial the z828 does not work with the SIR-Ken1...you have to buy the kenwood one which has different communication protocal settings to allow it to talk to the z828

True....I have the same one. I love it, worked fine plug and play. I got mine off and ebay store too for pretty cheap, brand new!
