I know you guys NEVER get sick of these.. :D

Heres my question...I have two MTX 10" Thunder 6000s (250W RMS) in a sealed box and need an amp. Im currently leaning towards the Alpine MRV-T420 because I had less powerful V12 a couple years ago with the same subs and remember being pretty happy with it and Im looking for SQ over SPL. I listen to mostly metal and am looking for something to push the double bass drum hits through nice and tight. However should I be looking at something with a bit more juice? A friend of mine has a 1200w mono Kenwood that he just got serviced and is willing to sell for $300, but that would require a lightning cap and thicker guage lead (running 8 right now) wouldn't it? Anyway, thanks in advance.

If you're on a budget then grab a us acoustics amp that'll push around 250-300W. If you feel like spending a bit more then the Alpine should be fine, but I'd personally get the JL audio 250/1. You really don't need all that power from the refurbed Kenwood...

Actually...if you want JL's SQ, and want to spend a bit less, you can get one of their e-series amps. Granted that's only 120W at 4 ohms, but if you get a second sub and hook it up in parallel you get a 2 ohm load and 200W. :D

There's a ton of options out there, and it totallly depends on your budget.

Well I can pick up that alpine for $230, which is around what Im looking to spend unless there is anything considered insanely better for like 300. I do have two subs, but Im not sure whats involved in running them parallel, Ill have to look into that.

I know they probably aren't a certified retailer, but Ive ordered tons of stuff from them without problem. Plus they are in New York so UPS ground comes overnight to my house. Sometimes their prices come close to the "at cost" price I got as an employee of circuit city, including my Infinity component speakers I just bought for 110.

I've ordered from etronics.com at least 3 or 4 separate times and have nothing but praise for them. They ship the same day you pay and provide excellent communication, tracking info, etc.

I highly recommend etronics.com.
