Yellow Fog Lights

Hey guys.

I was looking into getting a set of yellow fog lights to replace the factory fogs. By yellow, I don't mean the bulbs. I tried that & I can barely see a difference. What I want are a set of fog lights in which the actual lens is yellow.

Anyone have any ideas or links as to where I can get a pair?

No, but if your looking for the bright yellow look go with the PIAA bulbs. My friend has them on his red P5 and they are bright yellow with a slight shade of green in the middle. I personally think they look damn good. I think they cost him $20 each bulb though.

well the PIAA 540 series "Crystal Ion Yellow" foglight HOUSINGS are not yellow, but because of the huge reflector and the yellow bulb, it always looks yellow, lit up or not. It's up to you.

I'm curious, but what's the deal with yellow fog lights? Are they better or is it a personal preference?

I got em cause I like the "rally" style cars, and also the Lexus IS300 and otehr luxury cars have PISS yellow fogs, jsut somethign I like.

Same here. The whole "rally look" has always intrigued me, so it's a personal preference. If I don't find yellow fog lights, I may go with the PIAA's that you guys mentioned above. I think I'd prefer them anyway. From the pic that 'Equinox' provided, the look pretty damn good.

I like them too. Equinox - can you post a couple more pics - day and night. How much were the bulbs?

No offense, but personally I can't stand yellow lights. There's nothing more irritating then driving around, and having some guy with yellow lights come towards you and blind you. They are illegal up here ( but never inforced). And I find they don't actually do anything but look yellow. I just don't see the point.

WE don't have fog lights , we actually have driving lights. You asked about the difference in the yellow and that is it. Yellow light's sen on some of the other cars are actually dedicated fog lights. A white light in fog like we have doesn't do s*** except light up the fog. How ever a yellow light will cut through the fog making visability better. ANd dont start jumping my case because the manufacturer calls our lights fog lights, hehee

MYFBPEX00 is exactly right. We don't have fog lights, despite what Mazda calls them. They are driving lights & make no relative difference whether they're on or off other than the look. As far as being legal goes, I know that in Canada, white & amber/yellow are completely legal, as long as your main driving lights are white.

And like MYFBPEX00 said, as far as the P5 goes, the point of the yellow lights are just that. They are yellow & add a nice "rally" touch to the car. Of course, that is personal preferance.

I have just been to Performace Improvements in Toronto (http://www.performanceimprovements.com) & ordered a set of yellow PIAA Crysyal Ion bulbs to use in the stock fog lights of the P5. Cost? Just over $100.00 Canadian for the pair. I made clear to the salesmen that I am only iterested if the lights are an unmistakable bright yellow. The salesman told me that they are a very bright yellow & I should be happy with the results. If not, they're letting me exchange them for something else, most likely I'd exchange for PIAA headlight bulbs. They should be in by 11/06/02. I'll let you guys know what I thing of them.

Just a tip. When a salesman offers you an exchange or refund policy, make sure you get that in writing, just to avoid an hassle. Even the salesman at Performance Improvements wrote it on the bill & signed it so that I'd have no hassle if he wasn't there when & if I exchange. :)

Yes if you guys do not already know I am a hard core rally fan. I have the prodrive replica wheels gold that are found on the wrc wrx and the yellow bulbs.
Yellow fog and driving lights are legal in ALL 50 states.
They are far superior to white driving lights in the fog. When I lived in switzerland and france I realized that amber lights are a big thing over there since there is so much fog. 90 percent of the cars have them. Plus rallying is big over there.
Another thing I noticed is that some cars were running 1 yellow and 1 white fog light. When both blend together they give a better hue for mountain driving. I was told this so I am unsure of the validity.

But yellow lights to not blind oncomming drivers, they are smoother on the eyes opposed to the bright white "fake" HID lights.

Just to add to spoolinmp3's reply, I think that the "blinding" yellow foglights that newf is referring to are the cheap ones you buy at a flea market or large department store (ie Canadian Tire - Canada http://www.canadiantire.ca). They run about $25.00 tp $80.00 average. They're flimsy & very easily aimed upwards which will cause "blinding" to on-coming motorists.

We do NOT have driving lights! They are fog lights. They are designed to be a wide, low beam directed towards the ground so they do not reflect off the fog. Driving lights are designed as a long, thin beam, to complement high beams but narrower and further. They are aimed high, like high beams. It doesn't matter what the color is, it is the BEAM PATTERN.

Take a look at information from any lighting manufacturer (Hella, PIAA, etc).

Used to have those bulbs in my stock foglights, they are great and the cool thing about them is not only are they a piss yellow, but they swirl in a certain angle, with color, and sometimes you can catch a hint of green, and even purple. But it's definately a great bright ass yellow, only with a BMW H.I.D. swirl to them at times.

I have the PIAA ion yellow's and I love them - not only do they look sweet but they are helpfull in bad weather too - and yes they do have this greenish, blueish haze to them at times - kinda cool.
