Yellow Fog Lights

i am thinking about PIAA yellow ions for my MSP...but the results seem mixed in this thread.....any updates on people who have used them? dont get mad at me for bumping...i searched!!! :D

well I still have them, and they are still great, and have had no problems, and the glass lenses on them are very durable, not chips or nothing. Heck my windshield broke, but my foglights are still good.

are they bright? one of my friends said that they actually look WHITE from some angles...i dunno if its true or not...so ... :shrugs:

they are bright, yes, and yes they can look white at some angles, but only when NOT on.

when the lamps are on, they are a Lexus IS300 yellow at all angles, when the lamps are OFF, the reflector reflects a diff color at diff angles. Most angles it's yellow, cause of the yellow bulb, but some angles it's a white, or sometimes a slight greenish. It's neat either way =)

Those fog lights are Catz SR with a yellow lens

I had a thread asking about them before, but that thread seems to have disappeared. Do they remove old threads?

i want yellow fogs. .. .. has anyone tried the APC icy hot gold Amber H3's? they are only 9.50 per buld at autobarn.com. if you have do they have the same look as the PIAA's. . .i know its a long shot but that's a lot cheaper than the piaas

if the cheap ones are the ones that blind, then sign me up, if they are bright enough for irratating human eyes, they probally work good in the fog... just a thought!

Equinox: So how much are these PIAA ION HOUSINGS?? I am in need of foglight housings to finish off my body conversion and I dont want to spend some insane ass amount on the stock replacements. Especially If I can get some aftermarket ones that have twice the yellow color.

Do they require any modification to the front bumper? and do they fill up the holes well(no gaps)?

pretty sure I got them on ebay for 180 SHIPPED, but now I think you can get em for about 160 or so

as for how well they fit I don't know, I have larger foglights in a wingswest bumper, and it fits very snug and I just bolted it to the foglight holes. No exp. with direct fit ones.

In the first page of this thread there is a silver p5 with the fogs on and the drls completely off, at least that how it looks, if that is the case, how did you manage that?

also, do the PIAA yellow fgs tend to be brighter with the reflector lens inside the fog housing removed?

Finally, was hoping maybe you can post a link to the 520series PIAA housing, dont want to order the wrong size or make $100 mistake.. thanks

are any of these okay?

PIAA 520

Hey, I like those also, but 3 things I noticed about em.

1. They are supposed to be 6 1/4inches tall... I measured the foglight hole on the bumper, and I get just BARELY over 6 inches.. and that is more than halfway towards the front of the bumper.

2. They say they are 85w... I heard that the old foglights burned at 35w or something(correct me if I'm wrong). Now with these being different housings, will the higher wattage be a problem?

3. They all have plastic mesh covers. I assume those can be taken off?

Does anyone know exactly how much the OEM fogs would cost With the hangers and all?

Actually I looked around and the 520s may not fit but the PIAA 540 Ion Fogs should shouldnt they??

and the mesh can come off..

but the lamp is a dual driving/fog lamp and the wattage thing still concerns me? what does everyone else think?

Bulb Type 12V - H3 55watt=85watt fog

yeah guys, 520 is what I have in MY bumper, which is a wingswest bumper. if you have the stock bumper. you will want to get the !540!, it's the only one that will fit. but it is a clone of the 520, just smaller. Just get 540 crystal ion yellow.

The picture I posted with the foglights on and the headlights off is actualy misleading, the headlights ARE on, just the camera was right in front of the fog, and dimmed out the background, which the headlight was in.

I have had no issues with wattage, I just wired them into the stock foglight wires. They have not overheated, nor the harness, all is well.

The plastic mesh that comes with the fogs does come off, and if you don't take it off, the light wont fit.

anything on ebay of a 540 series is good from PIAA< just make sure it is new in box, and under 180 SHIPPED, remember to include shipping costs. I used buy it now option.

REMEMBER: 520 is 6 1/8", therefore ONLY fits wingswest kit
540 series is 5 1/8", therefore ONLY fits stock p5 bumper
