Just got my hand on my new MS3 sport in White!! im in love again. :)

i have some questions for new owner for this baby.

1. I plan to change oil myself and what tool measurement (in mm) do i need?
2. I am going full synthetic oil and about what weight to be recommended?
3. When is the break-in period?

tech questions:

1. about what rpm does turbocharger kick in?
2. can stall hurt the transmission? still getting used to it.

thanks!!!

break in period is generally described as 1,000 miles but the motor isint fully broken in until 3K or more. If I was you I would take it to the dealer for oil changes, I do my truck myself but the speed 3 is kind of a hassle with the skid plate and all. Stock the turbo spools at 2750-3K RPM and stalling wont hurt your trans but its better if you dont do it.

changing oil in the MS3...

It doesn't even have a normal oil filter.

Its a whole cartridge thing that can be tricky to remove. I thought it was a pain in the ass. I'll pay Jiffy lube or whoever the next time. well worth it...sigh

And I normally like working on cars...lol

Go with the spin-on oil filter conversion to alleviate that inconvenience ;)

the cartridge really isnt that much of an inconvenience. To me the biggest inconvenience of the whole oil change process is trying to take the under tray off.

OIl change really isnt that hard. BUt the tool from Mazda, and thats it. (well i think also a 6mm allen key).

OIl. MY Tech tells me to stay with normal oil. I run vavoline in both speeds. No issues.

By the hand book, break is in 600 miles, No hard driving, no over 5k RPM, IIRC, and no constant freeway speed, kinda go up and down.

I am def going to request synthetic for my 1st oil change,,,,,, kind of confusing that the mazda service guy recommended synthetic but said it is not required. I can't imagine putting non-synthetic in any turbo car.

i want to take the rear Mazdaspeed 3 emblem out so it gives a clean look. how should i go about? i was thinking using hair dryer and heat up the adhesive sticker and use my finger to peel it off.

that good idea or is there any better way?

thx

go full synthetic. But don't buy your oil from the dealer.

Penzoil Platinum 5w30 is a great oil and it's onsale @ wally-world for $20 for 5 quarts. cant beat it

I took mine to 3K before considering it "broken in". Switched to synthetic at 8K. 5w-30, like the book says.
