Honestly, I think your gonna regret paying almost a grand just for seat belts. Its your money, do what you want ;)

I dont think i would ever regret buying real takatas over ebay or craigslist s***
if i get into an accident i dont want to be relying on some s*** made in a sweat shop with probably no quality control at all,
takatas are expensive for a reason

that being said... i would never buy takatas lol too expensive for me
i would prob buy the street legal ones...scroth or something...

Yeah man, as much as they say street legal im like ehhhhh...

I was gonna get some g-force ones but for like $200 more I could have takatas in the colors I really want, thats why now I'm like **** it. lol

haha

So the Thursday before last(11/4) I was cleaning up the car before I went to a meet and noticed that my driver side rear tire was a bit low. I filled it up with air before the meet and thought nothing of it again. Yesterday I went to pick up my gf from work for lunch and when I got out of the car, I noticed that same tire was low again so I went and got it filled up again. I kinda saw something shinny in the tire but couldn't make it out, I decided that when I got home I was gonna remove the wheel and take it to America's Tire to get it patched up since it seems to of been leaking pretty quick.

After lunch, I decided to swing by the tint shop to see if they could fix the corner of my visor because a few weeks ago I was cleaning the inside of the windshield and the edge flipped out so it kinda looked bad. The girl said no problem and got to work with the heat gun and plastic fin thing. A few minutes in I hear a muffled pop and her saying "****.. I just bought you a new windshield"

Yup, she cracked my windshield. lol. I was not angry for 3 reasons.. 1, I know the shop owner and I know he would buy me a new windshield without thought.. 2, I will be getting a new visor done which I wanted because that one had a bunch of tiny bubbles in it.. and 3, pretty sure thats the oem windshield and even when spotless clean, it has a bunch of rock pits and little specs everywhere. I had been wanting a new windshield since I got the car but couldn't justify buying something I didn't need. I will be going to get the new windshield and visor in an hour or so. I also won't have my stickers anymore :( lol.. I kinda wanted to redo them too anyway.

So after that I came home and got ready to pull the wheel off. Right before I went out, the mail came as did my new shifter boot replacements so before pulling the wheel, I installed the shifter boots.

Old, completely worthless

Old, shot to hell. I cut it out so now old vs. new pic

Filled her up with motul and install, done.

The shifter feels x10000 better, I should of done this the first week I got the car. Interior noise has cut down a lot and shifting is smooth butter :D

Also forgot to show you guys my shifter extension...

Not sure if I'm keeping yet or not but its pretty cool, just looks lame with the stock knob.

Now it was time to pull the wheel, jacked the car up and got to work. Once I got the wheel off I got to see how bad it really was.

The cause

and the effect

Got a nice bubble and a sexy heat ring on the inside of the tire, as well as what looks to be a large house staple that caused the leak. The tire was never that low, but my wheels have decent camber, so while the outside wall looked fine, the inside wall was getting ******. It was late so I left the car as it was and went out for the night. When I got home, a ordered a new nexen before bed.

This morning I quickly got to work on throwing the stock rears on. I thought I might have to actually throw on all for because if the stocks made the rear drop any, I'd drag way too hard and would need to balance it out by throwing the stocks on the front too. To my surprised, the stocks are actually a lot taller than the XXRs so I got away with just the rear. Also got a good rake going on now too. lol

HELLASUNK BRO

After I got done, I went over to the local church's parking lot and tried my hand at drifting. Boy was that s*** fun :D

Anyway, pretty adventurous Friday. I was/am pissed about the tire but s*** happens *shrug*

way to make the best out a bad situation. :)

how did it go with drifting? did you feel underpowered?
Keep practicing. :D

It was my first try at trying to legitimately drifting, so I was a bit sloppy trying to pick up how to hold it, throttle pressure and steering angle but the car did not feel underpowered at all. I was in first the whole time so its not like I was going that fast. I wish I knew of an open parking lot that was away from everything so maybe I could actually **** around for awhile, not 10minutes. lol

great! im glad its not underpowered.
I recommend taking it to the track. it cost quite a bit but it is cheaper than if you got your car impounded. + you can do higher speed drift and be in a safe place. However I understand that you probably don't have enough time to really dedicate to go to a track so the lot is the only option for a quick session. ;)
the short wheel base makes miatas a difficult car to maintain a long drift. But in my opinion that difficulty would make it worth it.
however for short drifts and chain drifting it should be awesome. :D
good luck !
tweaking your suspension would help a lot, have you tried doing that yet?

This might not work as Cali cops are homos, but its worth a shot. Here, we always wait till late night, like past 11. Then we make our way to the nearest free way on ramp and have at it. We can go for about 3 runs on each ramp and then move on to the next. We've got 7 car tandems before, so legit. You can also make it out to your nearest industrial district, theirs always roads around with sharp turns and open space. Just do it on a sunday morning when no ones around ;). Im sure you guys have open drift all the time, just go and ask around. See if you can get a local grass routes pro to do a ride along, give you some tips. Most drifters are always trying to help out and lend a hand. At least thats how it is up here.

Got my new windshield today since they couldn’t get a hold of the guy saturday. Looks amazing, so crisp and clear. I love it. They didn’t have enough time to do the tint strip though so I have to go back Thursday and get it done. With no stickers or massive tint strip, I feel exposed. I do not have my full privacy :/

Damn dub... next thing you're going to say is that you feel like you need to raise your car to blend in with the common man until the tint strip is back.

Heh. It's ok. I won't bust on you too badly... ;)

Other than to say that you better take yourself off the slam approved list. Hahahaha.

lol ^ did you get new bushings for your shifter also?

If not do it, it will improve on whats already been improved upon.

I came home to my lovely new tire, exactly how you see it. Sitting up right pointed towards my steep down hill front yard that sits aside a very busy street. Noob should of known better, im just glad the wind took a day off :)

Every time I've gotten tires, they're always bare like so. The angle of my drive prevents it being seen by people driving or walking by, plus I live in a some what good area so I'm not worried. I've had hundreds of boxes come to my house, never had an issue. However, if it is something expensive or important, I keep updating the tracking while I'm at work and once its there, I run home and throw it in the house. haha
