Did an inspection of the res to see how thrashed it is...

I'm very impressed. Its scarred to hell but it shows no signs of actually wearing through anywhere. Towards the front and rear the metal has ripped but a quick weld will fix that so I'm really happy. It barely scrapes now so after I get the rips welded, it should be good. Doesn't look like I'll be deleting anytime soon. Oh, and as to Kelly's suggestion as to relocating the res...

Not only would it never fit, but the axle also has been digging into the pipe a little. Not enough to be a concern but enough to guarantee the res would never work in that location. I wonder what would of happen had I sent my exhaust back to CS and had them relocate to only get it back and not fit? Glad I didn't even consider that route. Outside of those two spots, the rest of the exhaust is flawless still except for this little spot...

Which seems to be hitting now before the res but just barely which is cool.

Anyway, I'm happy. lolz

hehe... you're killing me! glad you are so "happy" about your beat up exhaust. i guess it's just kind of molding itself into place...

edit: i heard somewhere that you are not coming to TBCM?!

Exactly!

Hey, as long as I can keep it sealed and the muffler/tip looks good, I could care less about the rest :P

but does question... is does it do what it is supposed to do as well as it needs to do it with its deformity.

but does it do it as good as it did before. key word is good. lol i'm just messing with u.

gotta tell you dub i didnt think you could pull it all off when you started all the talk about getting a miata, but youre really doing it well. cars looking great. but in a shot i saw tue clear is looking a little scratch. do you plan a respray of any sort? and whats the progress with the trunk? do you plan on camo wrap or just going straight to cf?

First post answers all those questions. lol. Once I get all the body parts I want, the car will get repainted as the trunk clear is shot (getting replaced anyway), 3 of 4 fender tops are going as well and the hood is getting there. The paint is still black but you can see huge patches of clear started to go, its just not crusty looking yet.

But yeah, trunk will happen, I just don't know when. Its high on the mod list though.

Oh yeah, people, the first post has the future stuff listed in order I will most likely buy it, just for reference ;)

Hey DUB, this guy was at the COBB grand opening in Austin. These are the pics I took of it. You should do it! j/k

I talked to him about it, he was pretty cool. He said he paid $500 for the car and spent $15,000 for the swap. He did most of the work himself. I see this swap all over the internet, but I was amazed to actually see it in person.

$15 grand for a swap.

**** that, I will buy a Vette and not do a swap.
If you're interested in going with a swap, a couple grand will land you a 13B-T from an FD. I mean, let's face it. Too many people are going LS-swaps into FD's, so those engines are getting easier to pick up. One guy near me has a 13B-T swapped NA that's putting down around 340 hp and he drifts it.

Yum ^

Pretty much i think putting a v8 in a miata is pointless. It a heavy ass motor and you ruin your ability to turn (what its made to do) just so you can go in a straight line.

Now a rotory swap is just sexy.

The thing is that the LS motors really aren't that heavy. Maybe 50 pounds heavier than the stock 1.6 / 1.8. LS motors are aluminum and the B6 / BP are cast iron.

lol, To each their own I guess. I just thought it was a pretty cool swap and thought I'd post the pics.

Oh, yeah. I mean, I can appreciate the work to do it. But, after driving mine for as long as I have (even running poorly), and as much trouble that I've gotten myself into... an LS car is a death sentence for me. Hell, just the other day I was taking an on ramp in 4th, goosed it a little and was sideways thru the exit of the on ramp... at 80. My personal preferences are mainly due to not being able to really use all the power.

But end thread jack. Dub, what do you have for us?
