xDJ DUBx's 03.5 Pure White LX-T

Maybe you can see from this pic..

I'd guess the fan is about 6" deep?

hmmm....that may be....when I did on young's turbomatic we went with the SMIC setup and so we HAD to run the msp driver's side fan cause it's shaped to fit the smic...I can't really say for sure if there is a clearance issue or not

if there is it can't be much...you might be able to get away with shaving it down a tad to clear, just be wary of where the blades end

you are in pretty close proximity to pep boys, autozone, kragen, napa, and anything else you need though lol...most of them carry slimfans for cheap...just be sure to set the fan to spin the right direction and face the right direction, don't pull an albert =P

Running a stock turbo I can't imagine how that would happen, unless the radiator / fan shroud in your NA sedan is a whole lot deeper than in the MSP... and iirc the turbo inlet sits nearer the passenger side fan, or about where the two fans meet.

it's not the inlet DIRECTLY on the turbo that's the issue...it's the coupler between the inlet and the intake that is the issue...and yea it sits REALLY close to the driver's side fan's outer edge...I'm pretty sure that albert's right, the oem n/a fan is way deeper than the msp fan, and the msp fan is already pretty close to the inlet....albert also already did the turbomatic swap with a fmic so if he ran into clearance issues that's probably a good thing to note lol

Haha, I was just trying to avoid spending the extra money on the fan if possible cause I really need to buy tires, asap, and I figure the fan would be in the $70 area. Yeah, I'm within a bunch of stores, as you may remember. (lol2)

lol, yea I remember hahaha
but should be closer to 30 from one of those stores

if you want I'll look in my "warehouse" (lol) later and see if I have any spare driver's side msp fans...I'm pretty sure they bolt up to both radiators...if I do it's yours for the cost of shipping (~10 probably)

Well damn, for $30 I'll just get a slim fan. ha. I'll probably swipe the plugs from the p5 fan, that way it hooks up OEM style y0!

Less than 24hrs now boys :D

Dub you will hate your life if you stick with the stock fan and fit your intake in there. I had to take the fan out, attach the intake, tighten it down, and then FORCE the fan back down. I had to cut a part of the top of the fan so that I could push it back down into place. It wouldn't go over the top radiator hose attachment. That was one of the shittiest parts of the install and it is a TIGHT fit.

lol yea they aren't that expensive when you get the cheap brands...just be sure to make sure that they are still running after a few months =P

and pics are a must, this whole live thing isn't gonna cut it for me since my parent's internet sucks haha...you shoulda let me know in advance though, I have a week off starting this afternoon, I would have hella flown down to help out lol

not to mention the huge chance of accidentally tweaking it slightly inwards while forcing it down and puncturing your radiator =P
been there...done that lol

Yea I was REALLY scared of that happening especially since I had punctured my radiator a couple months prior to that on a completely unrelated project.

Yes, its seriously gonna be aired live. lol. Even though we're starting at 8, things aren't gonna get real interesting until an hour in or so cause the car will have to cool.

Fish, thanks for the heads up, I'll probably get the slim fan to avoid that mess. I'm actually not gonna be running an intake until next week, I'll just have to filter on the turbo.

I wasn't sure if it was gonna go through this weekend like I was hoping since my money is never guaranteed but that would of been awesome! We would of had the turbo in, in like an hour! But then we would of spent a day and a half trying to figure out why the car wouldn't start. lol

lol, grounding epic fail

so the first hour or so is gonna be you guys just sitting around playing old school jacks off of the intercooler core right? haha

haha, we'll probably make a part run and try to get everything needed like vac lines, e-clip, hose clamps and anything else we can come up with, and draining the oil too.

We might adjust the IC at the time too cause its about half an inch offside.

Yep... now that I've seen the pic, the NA fan setup is way different. The driver side shroud is huge! I can see where the inside / center edge would be into the coupler.

On another topic (clearly a thread jack) Dub, do you know if any of the 01-03 NA sedans came stock with rear disc brakes?

didn't the ESs come with rear disc brakes?

werd, and your sig btw is ******* awesome lol

dub: autozone sells vacuum line by the foot for cheap...and be sure to get the value pack box of assorted vacuum T-s...that thing has come in handy for me countless times, keep it in your trunk in case you need to replace a T or want to re-route something or disconnect something...or if you just want to have them handy to help out a friend in need lol

A friend in need (evil)

Laser, the only sedans that come with rear disc brakes are the ES model. I think the 01 ES model might not come with them, but I know the 02 and 03 models do for sure.
