I don't think so... usually bearings work or they don't. They seize and then the rod snaps, etc. Besides, it would be rattling like a can of marbles.

Man, I'd love to drop in a 50k motor, that'd be awesome. Not a 177k motor
greg.. i think i figured it out..
i remember you making that vid and whoever was driving overrevved the motor.. i'm pretty sure the piston slapped your plug.
edit-i know it's a non interference motor. but that doesn't necessarily apply to plugs. i think that's your issue.

that's a weird scenario then.. it would be the piston busting the s*** out of it.
loosed wrist pin, bearing, etc.
as laser stated.. and it could just progressively getting worse.
prepare that other motor.

overrevving wouldn't make it hit the plug, and if he's got the right length theres no reason it would make contact.

maybe some carbon build up?? that would explain why its getting worse.

The tolerances start out pretty tight. I don't know how fatigued the metal in that rod would have to be before the round lobes become oblong from age and stress. But I've seen it happen on 2-stroke motorcycle engines.

I'm thinking the same thing. If this was the case, it would happen across all cylinders, and it would be running ALOT worse. It would probably be happening more often too. If it made contact, I think we would see it in the picture too.

it wouldn't necessarily go across all cylinders. ive seen it on hondas many times.
anyways, did you NOT see the picture?? look at the b****. it's slammed flat.

easiest way, pull the spark plug and try and look at the piston... if he can idk.
but, you may not see damage, ..you may on the plug. either way, you see the aftermath.

hey dub. have you seafoamed your car? it could get rid of some carbon build up possibly.
