hi everyone, just done the Techniques of Racing Course up in sonoma, california... and my brother told me that there are some stock races over there in infinieon raceway...
and i was thinking about putting my car to the track(BTW, completely stock)...so was wondering what group is the msp in and what competitor will i be facing??
also, what i do need add to my car in order to race? (example, fire extinguisher)

thanks,
joe:p

not knowing the track or its rules I believe you need a roll cage helmet and maybe even approved tires

you need to add nothing to your car. you only need to add to your head. get a helmet or rent one. umm what type of racing are we talking aobut anyways.

at real race tracks you will often need real race equipment

no no... i am not talking about drag racing... i am talking about track racing... sears point in sonoma, ca....
just stock races, i guess...i am not really sure what type of races they have for stock cars out there...so i was wondering

i know in drag racing the mazdaspeed is in sport compact class and you dont need anything special unless you go under 13 seconds( sorry i dont know about racing on the oval track)

so at Button Willow, i will need a full roll cage, battery relocation and cut-off, fuel cut-off, removeable steering wheel, lexan windows, 4 or 5 pt harness (cam lock), fire retardant suit, window net, and a racing seat.

hmm... so those daily driven subarus/mazdas that were out there a few months ago, must have snuck in...

i'm not out to burn you, but that was completely unejukaytid.

sorry for the flame... it's been a long nite.

AFAIK, Infineon Raceway does not host road racing events for street cars. They have the driving schools, and the drag races, but that's about it.

However, as an alternative in the area, check out Thunderhill up in Willows. It's a longer drive but can make for a good weekend event. There's always one car club or another heading up there, and you can usually find a group event that you can tag along with.

You can start off with just a helmet (SA95 or newer), but if you stay in racing long enough and get to be serious (competitions, etc), you will need all the other equipment. When you get to that level, you'll figure it out. Be sure to get neck restraining devices, too.

Here is me at Buttonwillow Raceway this weekend (Bakersfield area), all I had was my helmet. http://www.clubprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1870 I went with the High Performance Drivers Event with NASA (http://www.nasaproracing.com )

Also, check this out, some proteges are going in December.
