Wtf V6-mp3?

No, the MP3 does NOT have ABS...Never has, never will.
Yep and the only protege that has it standard was the MSP. Its a rare option for the rest.

wow really.....I guess I just expect more out of a car than most. I won't buy a car without ABS....it also doesn't snow here. Any performance car I own will have ABS. I'm not niave enough to think I can stop better than a computer designed to do nothing but stop. also, the mazda EBD is supposed to be a very neat bit of braking engineering. I hope Ford will steal it and improve their line.

Electronic Brake re-Distribution....it has something to do with energy lost through braking being redistributed back into the system in some manner. I'm not sure if this helps with acceleration after braking or with brake longevity. All I know is that my P5 and MSP would bug my eyes out if I hit the brakes hard enough.

Ha! How did you find out that is was the one you test drove?
I am just so curious.
Because the day I test drove it they told me they had just got it in from that lot. Also I know the lot where it is now takes used cars from the mitsu dealership that the ad is from.

I'm sorry you don't have enough confidence in your braking ability to out brake ABS.

It's not that hard actually and I prefer to run with out ABS. I drive my car and cars with ABS on a daily basis. My car brakes better without.

I'm sure there are people out there who can stop better without ABS than with....my only comment is that I bet if we were actually doing it in a controlled testing environment you'd be surprised about your actual braking distance.

And so would you...

I've been to a few driving courses covering performance driving. We did full out braking tests. ABS is crap in just about every car...

I'd like to see a head-to-head comparison.

just FYI, get the new SCC. They do a write-up on the new SE-R Spec V Nismo R and S tunes...

The best stopping unit was the S-tune with ABS. the other without abs was sluggish.

The question is, was ABS even a factor? Most drivers can out brake ABS, depending on how obtrusive the ABS system is. That is fact.

well I consider SCC editors as "capable drivers". If they can stop an ABS car faster than a non-abs car then I'd tend to believe that abs stops better....I know though that REAL race car drivers don't use abs, but the stopping distance on these STREET cars was like 10-12 shorter WITH abs than without.

you literally have to push the brake to the floor to get full advantage of abs...how many people really do that? usually, it's only done in a panic situation...therefore...most people (with a manual transmission) will downshift and apply brake pressure...so, they really wouldn't need abs. i didn't get it because i really don't see a need. will i ever depress the brake hard enough to actually make abs worth while? probably not. not to knock women, but they're usually the people to slam on their brakes hard enough to actually need it. just my opinion.
