WTB UniChip

theres been a lot of AEM threads coming up lately, its getting more support. i think that advances timing as well, which i know you were interested in harry. i completely forgot about the AEM. also keep in mind you cant run boost below the WG pressure, so make sure you get a forge WGA if you want to run less than 6psi.

I'm already maxed out at 4psi on the oem wga.
Haha, I've been thinking about the ATP wga, but it's going to be such a b**** trying in install.

its really not that hard.. i was able to fit my hand behind the manifold between the block and the turbo and do it..
as for this discussion.. the AEM can be a wonderful unit IF you can get it to work..
i have nothing but GOOD things to say about unichip! i had one on my fully built forged MSP and let me tell u, my car was fast as hell.. only reason why i am on split second again is b/c i am running the twiggys and need to be able to see where my tune is at to optimize performance of them.. a unichip is great if you have a goal in mind.. get your mods to support it, then get it tuned..
and i second Discospeed on the Greddy EBC.. unichip solenoid is the same one the AEM truboost uses and its def not a great unit.. its ok. but not great

SSFTC is your other viable option... AEM is relatively unsupported in this community. unfortunate as that is.

Didn't I just say this a couple posts ago? Had to do it wagon (since you do that s*** to everyone else lol!) installing the SS afc today. Let the tinkering begin!

Yeah Scott but isn't your hand like the size of a hobbits? Lol. It's not to bad Chang, just be sure to get a 10" long set of hemostats(giant roach clips dude) for that little ass c clip. Most hippies got that covered. There also nice to grab the wga shaft to attach to the WG pin.(thats if your hands are bigger than a 5 year old childs) And well giant reffers too! Lol

call it a +1 then...

2 AFC installs on the same day..lol. bet that hasn't happened in a while.

I also changed my WGA on the car. I used a screwdriver and a magnet to get behind the mani to get the clip on. its fiddley as hell, but doable.

just random question, how much do the used unichips go for these days, I checked out the thread linked on the 2nd post but he erased the price once it was sold, as do many other sellers, makes it hard to prices for anything, sorry for the jack but he wanted to buy a unichip, I just don't know what they go for, but I have one

I have a unichip. It was tuned for: stock MSP turbo, SRI, MAM FMIC kit (hardpipes and all that), Greddy Type-RS BOV, relocated MAF, Protege Garage (626) intake manifold, 440cc injectors, colder spark plugs, Thunder exhaust manifold, and a full turbo-back exhaust .. all running on at least 93 octane. I'd be willing to part with it as i have now gone a different route. I'm PMing you now...

would the uni chip work for these mods: T3/04E turbo, fmic, hks ssqv2 bov, tial external wastegate, cai, cat back, 440cc inject, built engine, spec stage 3+clutch, litened flywheel? also looking for like 11 psi. Thanks

um, not 100% sure what your asking, but a unichip properly tuned will take the fuel cut away (as long as you have a tune for the weather your driving in, like I make a summer tune and then I make a fall/spring tune for when it's colder so I don't hit fuel cut) but same thing goes for the unichip, as long as the tune is good and the temp doesn't go crazy, you shouldn't hit fuel cut..

as far as the speed govern that makes you fuel cut I think, maybe it just keeps you from going higher rpms, but I hear it makes you hit fuel cut when you get to the speed limiter, but it's up there anyways, so no real practical need to take that off,

lol ok that's good, wasn't too sure why you really wanted the speed limiter out, but ya fuel cut sucks, I need to get my damn tune done, and for this weather to stop going from 70 degrees to 50 degrees every few days. I tune for the warmer weather so I don't blow the engine, and then it gets cold and I hit fuel cut like crazy lol

also, I know I waited till the end to say this, but if your not 100% set on getting a unichip, the SSAFC is much much more user friendly and easier to use overall, unless you know a place where you can get a dyno tune and done by a unichip distributor relatively easily and at like a discount price or something, otherwise it is a pita to get that sometimes, at least it was around where I am for my brother's car, couldn't find anyone to do it with the mods he had.. or do it in general, but I love my ssafc.. just throwing that out there.. and maybe as cheap new as a used unichip is..and you can datalog but ya.. up to you
