FYI, the biggest insurance/salvage auctions in New England are in southern New Hampshire, so there are a lot of used car dealerships in the vicinity with a high percentage of fix-em-ups purchased there. That's why New Hampshire has almost as much selection as Massachusetts despite having 1/5th the car driving population, particularly in the non-fleet models, and there's damn near nothing south of Boston. But there's also a few nice trade-ins of lower base value cars by new car dealerships placed in those auctions, so don't disregard them entirely.
Since I just test drove several of the cars listed on autotrader, I'll tip you off to stay away from the silver one in Lawrence, MA and the red one in Derry, NH. Also stay away from the black one in Danvers, MA, because I just bought it.
Lastly, a great place to get a pre-purchase inspection done in northern Massachusetts is
FasTrack Automotive. Nice, professional guys who also track prep Mazdas. Only $25, and using what they found I knocked the price down another $300 below what I'd already haggled down to, even though there was very little wrong with it. You definitely want to work with someone like that, being in California. Alot of the cars in northern Mass and especially southern NH look great in pictures but will disappoint you in person, but that's probably where you're going to have to look for this model of car in this region.
