one of my buddys here in tally has those springs. his car started as a plain ol sand mica 1.6 auto, and now is a 2.0 5 speed with msp and p5 interior with a sport 20 front bumper, all gtspec braces and those uber rare springs. my jaw just drop everytime i see his car. i believe he is on imazdas.

spring new are 850 + shipping
struts are 425 + Shipping each and the front left is not in stock anymore, not going to buy only 3 out of 4

shipping to USA or Canada is 225$ for a 10kg package with tracking ...

While im a ***** for rare parts like the next guy, $2500 would buy you a full CUSTOM race coilover setup...

This.

Or a set of Tokico Illuminas with custom rate coilover sleeves. This way you can replicate both the B-spec spring rate and the drop and have the adjustability of the A-spec struts.

Whats the stiffest lowering spring out there for the Protege besides these?

I used to have the info but no idea where it is now.

iON Race spec springs are the stiffest made for the Protege. I run iON's myself and love them. Rumor has it they're the best ever made for the BJ, combining a linear and progressive rate.

NM found it.

If I got A new set of HP struts would I need the P5/ES version or the MSP/MP3 version?

You definitely wouldn't want the MSP ones due to the rear perch, and the MP3 doesn't make sense due to rarity/price/fact that they might as well be an HP which are cheaper.

HP's are the msp/mp3 struts with the exception that the MSP rear struts have the spring perches set 1" higher.

Sorry, I meant the spring versions. Ion makes an MP3/MSP version and a P5/Es version. If I got HP struts (for the regular protege, not MSP replacements) I guess getting the P5 version of the springs would be best.

Are the spring rates in our oh-so-accurate spring buyers's guide for the Ion springs correct? Because if so, the Aspecs should be stiffer as the numbers I've seen (on iMazda (RIP) I think) say 247/192 if my memory serves me right.

The better question is would you rather have the sport spec or the race spec springs... the HP struts are so similar to the MSP ones that it doesn't matter which ones you get (struts), except that the price on the HPs will be a fraction of the MSPs. The only reason to go to something else other then the HPs is for adjustability --> Illuminas.

Yeah I was thinking of the illuminas but honestly doubt I'd need them so was just going to get a set of the standard HP sets (the non MSP)

Choose the ones that are for your MSP. iON put so much R&D into those springs (I actually worked with Jack on developing these back in the day) there are different spring weights for different cars to account for the different weights of the different cars. (MSP being slightly heavier than the P5 IIRC.)

ok guys, i never said i would spend 2500 on shocks and springs even if I liked to have rare parts and i do not want a full race setup with every litle asjustement available.

What i will do is probably get the tokico illumina, since they have the warranty, i wont have trouble to have them replace if they die, i am mainly looking for the spring for its spring rate, and if i can ill buy them use, the guy who gave me those price will look for them. If i do not find these i will order custom rate coilover sleeves like the ground control

So if I replaced the HP struts which ones would I buy? MSP ones or just standard HPs?
