WRX versus P5 (or MSP)

So this WRX blew off the line at a stop sign next to me this morning. Man, those things seem fast. Has anyone with a P5, modified, or an MSP gone up against one of these? Do either hold a candle to the speed of the WRX? It seemed like it was really fast! Just curious.

no stock msp, pro5, mp3, or protege can keep up. maybe a msp with 15psi or other with t3 10psi might be able to do it...

Any stock Protege or MSP will get killed against a stock WRX.

WRX: 0-60 5.8 seconds (approx)
MSP: 0-60: 6.8-7 seconds (approx)

My buddy has a WRX. That is one sweet car. The AWD + 240hp make it very hard to keep up with.

I have P5, brother has WRX

The WRX Smokes my P5 as it should. 4 Wheels pulling and 227 HP (his is like 255 though with the mods) - well nuf said...

I still take him in the RX-8 though. He beats me off the line but I scream past him from 25 mph and up.

Yeah, they is no match.

I have a 2.5RS. It pulls a low-mid 7 in the 0-60. I pull the MSP up to about 40, after that, it's all MSP.

Yeah, even the 2.5RS Imprezza's haul...that little boxer engine just runs it.

But yeah, a 'Rex has no competition if a Protege rolls next to it...it might be fun for the first second though....you can read his licence plate for the remainng time..

i can pull a stock or lightly modded wrx no problem!!! they just take off good!!! after that they loose most there steam unless they modded pretty good.

With the 4wd system, there's little wheelspin and hence a good launch, and pulling at lower speeds.

But also with the 4wd system, there alot of drivetrain lost. Stock WRXs dyno about 165hp to the wheels. Hence, they tend to run once speed picks up and therefore you here them getting beaten on running starts.

Hey please don't misunderstand. I'm not saying Proteges can beat WRX. I was thinking more like the Altima 3.5 from a running start.

they can launch like mad BUT at speed they arent that great

a turbo p5 or mp3 could take it from a roll, and so could a modded msp

You're right. They're quick and if they launch well, they're going to be tough to beat, but they're not that fast. One thing that is a problem with AWD cars is that the lack of wheelspin makes it easy to bog the launch, the S4 is the same way. IF you can get just a touch of wheel spin (it's possible stock with the right launch) it takes off like a rocket, chipped it's possible to lay down four patches of rubber. That said, those launches are tough to get right, and more often than not, people just end up burning their clutch.

You fellas may want to keep this thread to yourselves in the Protege5 forum. Those fellas in the MSP forum, ( well, not all of them, but about 85% ), will tell you that the WRX is nothing and can be easily beat.

I like the Scoobie a lot, and I like my MSP some too, but stock for stock, the MSP won't win.

A modded Scoobie and a modded MSP, and it still won't win.
