I have a heavily pitted hood from large Georgia acorns and am strongly considering replacing my damaged one with this

I like the idea of turning it backwards to vent hot air from under the hood...

when i get my car back from mazda hopefully friday, ill see what it looks like and post pics..

just talked to my body guy, finally got in touch with him.. he is gonna look at it sometime next week to see what needs to be done to make it work and all.. and here are the pics of it backwards.. i am just not feeling it though back wards..

I like it backwards!

me too... it will be functional backwards.

even in stock form, the Impreza RS scoop was useless. my friend had one and i checked the underside and it was all blocked off, except for a tiny area. it was only useful in japan and europe, where they had the turbocharged wrx with the TMIC.

at least if you put it backwards and make sure there is a hole open, hot air will flow out, making it functional. i was thinking about doing this as well... since there aren't any non-CF vented hoods. i just gotta pick up a used hood and a RS scoop!

Definitely forward, IMO.

Besides, as long as there's a hole there, I'd think it would be every bit as functional at cooling forward as backward ... maybe more so.

well, you would be forcing air in, which could help cooling, although i don't know exactly what you would be cooling... perhaps the top of the valve cover? it seems to make sense to use the air that's already rushing in through the grill and lower bumper to help flow the hot air out of a backward facing scoop.

the scoop will actually be forcing air more on the intake manifold.. so it will serve some affect to cooling off that part, lowering air temps.. but will prolly be so little it wont be noticeable..

right... so what will make a bigger diff ... releasing all that trapped hot air through the vent.... or blowing some air onto an intake manifold? hmmm

edt: i thought you were turbo'd ... i guess it wouldn't make much of a diff either way.
