WRX scoop on a pro

here are some updated pictures.. hopefully since ihave spring break off comming up.. ill get the intercooler and piping mounted.. that way all i have to do is wait for the acuator, voltage clamp, bov,injectors, and wideband gauge...... i am doing these things right the first time..

yep, waiting on actuator to come in, then get wideband guage, and start the build.. i am hoping sometime this week to get the intercooler mounted since i am on spring break..

i'm too lazy to go back and read all the old posts, but you are going to have this scoop molded onto the hood right?

if so, i support this project 100%, if not more like 99.7 lol

some new pics,.. top mount went out the window.. instead the air filter will be mounted in the scoop and sealed off onto the scoop... read the link posted above , it explains why i switched..

Why paint the hood black? Do you want it to LOOK Like CF from far, but disapointing from up close?

A black hood on a car that is Not black is RICER unless the Hood is CF.

Im really confused about this project, & Why do it. It seems like alot of work for no reason other thain to have a hood scoop off a WRX, but the WRX has it there for a reason (Engine layout) We dont have the same engine and its pointless to have a TMIC there is Not enough room and plenty of other issues that will cause, Um there are so many less extravigant options that will produce better results, as if you were to get a TMIC it would have to be TINY, when you can stuff a much bigger one in the facia.

and stuffing a air filter in there and creating some sort of intake system out of it seams far fetched and pointless.



Mods like this generally fall in the "Rice" Catagory.

I painted the center of my hood black because I wanted something different. I purposely painted it Black Mica, instead of just a gloss black, so that it has some different look. I personally think what hes doing with the scoop is pretty cool, and its unique, so I have to give him props for that. Its not gonna hurt to have a hood scoop putting fresh air into the engine bay, and what about all the WRX owners out there that upgrade to the FMIC? Should they not have the scoop anymore? Its all about personal preference, or sometimes thinking out of the box.

this is what i wanted on my car so thats what i am doing..
there are plenty of cars on the forum with the center hoods painted black and they all look good, so i am joining the croud , rice or not..

I geuss the Black paint is lighter thain stock paint so you will shed some pounds lol.

All Black Painted hood on a none black car = Fake CF Hood (looks like it from a distance, but more and more evident as you aproatch the car)

a 2 Toned hood doesnt give off the impression your faking anything.

I agree to each there own, But Rice is Rice. If I threw every decal I could find on my car because I like it, or Put on the Biggest wing I could find, I wouldnt be suprised when people point and say "Ricer!" IF your Going ALL BLACK Painted hood (Not CF) on a none black car, dont be suprised either.
