Wow Worst Case Of bad Luck!!

I don't agree with any of this statement. The name alone states it to be more of an enthusiast car then a luxury car. Mazdaspeed6. It isn't marketed as a luxury car. It is marketed as a sports sedan though. Just because it is awd also doesn't mean it is meant to be the ultimate snow car either.

Again I don't believe in "performance" all season tires. There are to many concessions that have to be made to try to make a tire all around descent for all seasons. Add to that being high performance and a high speed rate and something is going to be given up. I would have taken that $500 and put down a good chunk of money down on a set of dedicated snow tires and wheels. That way you have the absolute best possible tire for snow conditions (minus studded tires).

What I was really getting at is that I don't understand Mazda's logic behind building a Mazdaspeed 6 the way they have, and thinking it would succeed in the enthusiast market in this form. I understand why it has the tires, but the way the car drives, it doesn't match IMO that's all. It's big, heavy, and quite luxurious, and that does not equal ENTHUSIAST in my opinion. I can understand why people won't agree with my opinion, because many of you on here look at your Speed 6 differently then I do. :) I did afterall buy this car as my daily winter commuter vehicle, not because it was my top choice as an enthusiast car. I bought this car with more of a general consumer frame of mind, like my dad or my girlfriend would shop for a car.

When I test drove it, I was stunned at how quiet, smooth, and luxurious it was. I didn't expect it to be this friendly and adult like, so I got rid of my loud attention getting, raw, yet absolute fun to drive STI for a tamer, better daily, because I have an S2000 for pure fun, and I needed something ciivilized and more comfortable to commute in. This car more then met my expectations. I got it for so cheap, how could I pass it up, and I love this car as a daily driver. However, it stops there. No plans on modifying this, ect ect. I own it to drive to work in style, and have plenty of power at my disposal, and AWD for the bad weather. :)

I am an avid car enthusiast, and as a car enthusiast, the Speed 6 was the last car on my list. Just because it's a Mazdaspeed may make it more of an enthusiast vehicle in the eyes of a consumer market, but when you compare it to other cars marketed for enthusiasts, it's very different, and more like a luxury car, which is why it was not accepted very well in the way it was marketed. Granted, I went from an STI to this, so I'm partial, but from my past vehicles I have owned and currently own (S2000, STI RX8), this car is not in the same enthusiast category at all. I'm merely arguing on the side of why this car failed that's all. I'm glad, because as a daily driver/winter car, it's perfect for me. I'm still a Mazdaspeed 6 enthusiast, but the car is just in it's own separate category for me, that's all. :)

Trust me when I tell you though. The right set of ultra high performance all seasons on this car do not downgrade the handling all that much. If this was my only car, I'd have gotten a set of winter wheels, and swapped them out, but this is my fun fast commuter car that I will drive right into the grave. :)

I'd put the Mazdaspeed6 into the same "enthusiast" subcategory as like.. a Dodge Magnum SRT-8
... but the MS6 is a hell of a lot nicer :)

To me the MS6 was targeting the euro sports sedan market. It was aimed at going againist A4's, 325/330xi's, C230's. Problem is it fell a little short, but made that up with price. Yes it does go up againist some of the american stuff too. If Mazda wanted to make it more of a generic car they would make in in automatic to sell more cars, but they kept it manual only.

psi is right. Killer is, Audi/bimmer owners want an audi or a bimmer. They aren't going to step "back" to a "mazda". But the ms6 was great for those that wanted a audi/bimmer but didn't have the cash to do so. However, at least here in Canada, at a pricepoint of 40/tax, it was still priced too high for a "mazda". To me the AWD alone made the car worth it, and the snow we are getting now only proves I made the right decision ( car is wicked in snow), but the average buyer only see's 40+k for a "mazda" vs I can get a deal on a bimmer or Audi for XXXX even used if I had to.

And again, another reason why the MS6 failed, just like the MSP, and MP3, and MSM did because of NO ADVERTISING. You would think that having one of the only Japanese AWD Sedans would be enough to brag about. Does Toyota have one? Honda? It's an edge they aren't using.

OK well to start off; Mazda should take responsibility in selling a Car where there is more snow in some areas then others. They should make sure that the dealerships are taking care of the customer by making sure the car will be safe to drive especially in areas where weather is harsher. All season tires should have definitely been considered for those areas.

Anyways, I ended up taking another route, I took my car back from the dealership on Thursday Jan. 25th (had to pay for an Alignment which was $70 bucks) and I Took it to another dealership right next to my house. I told them that I hit a pot hole and that I was hearing some weird vibration. I mentioned that I had the extended warranty with Mazda (the Total Care plan) and that they were going to call the warranty to make sure that they would cover any damage.

I later received a phone call from the service advisor from the dealership next to my house. He said the same thing that the other dealership said, that my rim was bent and was causing stress on the rear suspension which was causing that noise that I was hearing. He called up the warranty that I had and he told me that the warranty would cover it but because the rim was still holding the Tire pressure that the rim was not considered damaged under the warranty agreement and therefore the warranty would not pay for it.

Screwed over again!! I thought that was total BS but I read the back of the warranty contract and it did mention it. I like how people pursue you to purchase some s*** and dont tell you that theres a catch. Remember in life there is always a Catch no matter what. I should have read that Warranty plan better.

I basically gave up and went with my insurance company which was a pleasure to deal with. They actually told me that they wouldnt be able to send an agent out until Feb 1st to take a look at my car at the dealership but I got a phone call early today from the appraiser and told me that he was on the way to take a look at my car. Appraiser took care of everything and the dealership already ordered my rim so I should have my car by the end of the day tomorrow or by Thursday.

Ill have to call up my agent to make sure that the rate didnt go up. So ill you guys know how that part went.

Thanks,

Orlando

of course there's a catch with the warranty.. warranties aren't for covering damage you do to the car, that's what insurance is for.

Good god...did I miss something here??

I think I looked at every post carefully, so what this looks like is you have 1 bent rim and your trying to get that covered under what pretense??

And why would you even bother...why not just buy a rim and get over it?

You said you were driving and you hit a curb...end of story! Why shouldn't it be that way?

Your suppose to be responsible for both your actions and your inactions, you didn't do your homework so you have summer tires..get over it..buy some winter tires like everyone else and move on...its not like you didn't know it was going to snow.

I hope I have missed something here and your really not just trying to worm you way out of paying your tab, was this car a gift by chance?

Yea i believe you did miss something,

1. I was misinformed that the car came with summer tires ( Salesman told me it was All Season). I didn't really seem it was a big deal to confirm that it did come with all season tires, something i just overlooked.

2. I was leaving from a friends house and i did not know it was going to snow.

3. The rim was bent due to the curb, I tried getting it covered under the MAZDA EXTENDED WARRANTY. Which cost extra, its called Total Care. It covers various addiontal things incudling my Tires and Rims if anything happens to them caused by Road Hazard. (which includes Nails and pot holes). Thats why i took it to a different dealer and tried told them it was a pot hole instead of a curb.

4. I paid for this car all by myself, with no ones help and proud of it.

You didn't miss anything. I even posted a link to a MS6 window sticker were it even said the car was equiped with high performance summer tires. Sti's, Evo's, 911's, etc are all performance cars that don't come with all season tires. I haven't heard a customer come in with an RS4 complaining that their performance sedan should have all seasons on it from the factory cause they live where it snows. It is a MazdaSPEED6 after all. If you didn't read the window sticker that the car was equiped with summer tires then its your fault. Regardless you don't have a legal leg to stand on. Warranty covers a defect in the manufacturer of a part, not cause you messed up driving. Thats like going to the drag strip and destroying your clutch and crying warranty cause it failed. Since you are still under basic warranty your extended warranty doesn't even come into effect yet.

I've owned 3 different 4 wheel drive SUV's for the past 10 years ('82 chevy blazer, '93 jeep grand cherokee and a '98 durango) and NONE of them compare to this car as far as handling in the snow. Get rid of those summer tires (they are crazy good on dry and wet pavement but suck in snow). I tried to get the dealership to slap on some all seasons but they didn't and I bought the car anyway. For $500.00 pick up a set of Pirelli PZero Nero's M&S (they fit right on the factory 18"er's) and wait until you see the difference. We just had our first snow this past weekend and I went out to see what this car could do...WOW is all I can say. It was almost a chore to get the car to slide! Pirelli PZero Nero M&S from Tire Rack - $125.00 each delivered...

Might be late, but co-signed on the Pirelli PZero Nero M&S, from Tire Rack even. First thing I ordered the day after I got the car. Dealer didn't mention summer tires either, but having an IS300 before this car (and almost wrecking it with summers in snow, and yes Lexus did tell me it had summers, but I'm a rebel!), I knew better and looked myself. Plus I now have an excuse to buy aftermarket rims and then replacement rims so they don't get ruined by the winter salt. Win-win.

I'm very impressed with the Bridgestone tires in the wet, I'll definitely get some more of them.
I live in Florida and was concerned with the summer only tires in the wet, and it even clearly stated it on the window sticker when I bought my car and I have had it a year now.
if you get snow where you live you'd be better off with narrower rims and snow tires. the narrower width helps the weight of you vehicle reach the asphalt improving the effectiveness of the rubber to road contact.

You're lucky you weren't killed in that little mishap of yours.

Suck it up and buy a new rim.
consider it a lesson well learned.

Plenty of new cars are sold with Summer tires. This isn't the first car I've seen with 2/3 season tires from the factory.

I believe they use summer tires to 'further enhance' the MS6's handling prowess, especially when the car is test driven at media events or at dealerships.

IMO, tires are one of the most important factors, if not the most important in any suspension setup, and especially in daily driving.

Oh you bought the car in the winter? yikes that's even worse that they didn't mention it to you. ugh dealerships

I beleive this only applies if your state is a 'no ransom' state. In other words, they cant take away your primary mode of transportation over a towing fee. I dont know how to tell if a state is 'no ransom' or not, but its best to find out before getting the law involved incase it doesnt apply in all states.

This was in Arizona.
