Wow... Didn't expect this to happen!

Did you put the belt on yourself? What bolt needs to be loose to be able to fit the belt over the pully's?

Same thing happened to me not that long ago.

My dealer did not cover it and no dealer should, remember a belt is a wear and tear item like brakes they won't cover it.

Phew! for a moment there I thought you were going to tell us that you had blown your engine or something Dave. You should have no problem fixing that quickly.

BTW, how's MD treating you?

i don't think it runs your oil pump. i thought the a/c and alternator were run by the same belt...hmm...

Power steering and a/c are on one belt. alternator and I think water pump are on the other belt.

I don't know that much about engines, how is the oil pump driven?

Hey bud... how are ya? Everything is going pretty good here, we are still settling in. I'll call you soon to chat.

I thought it was a serpintine belt that ran everything? If it runs your alternator your car will die soon.

You guys clearly havn't been following the WOMP thread, lol. Like zverg said, power steering and AC are on one belt. I don't know if everyone's heard about this, but Matty's rear motor mount broke a couple months ago and so a bunch of stuff got broken, including the radiator and power steering pump. Point is, he's been drving around without power steering for a while, so I'm willing to bet that you can just leave the belt off for as long as you want and nothing will get hurt. It just depends on whether you want to deal with lack of power steering (not really that big a deal in my book)

Just FYI.

Actually, over time it may cause stress on the steering knuckle that connects to the rack and pinion. My 96 Chevy lumina I had before the msp had a broken power steering pump. I never fixed it, and after a couple months of driving with out it, the steering knuckle snapped. Luckly it broke in the parking lot, cause if it was at highway speeds it could've been real ugly.
