you need to get a P5 valve cover, and paint it black, file,or polish the letters,it would change that engine bay a lot for the better.

those fans look great in there,I never thought I would say that about fans.

I agree, the P5 valve cover is much better looking. But, like Vapors said the MSP engine cover will be going back on painted to match the car and I'll be getting the valve cover and a lot of other pieces powder coated black like daedalus's car. I just wish our cars didn't have such a cluttered engine bay.

oh shet no way....kai, didn't get those jdm tails on your car?! oh man...imma hunt u down and steal em i tell u!!! grrrrrrrrr i'm going nuts! i can't get the dang things!

Vern - Too much information there. lol.

Kai - Thanks man. From what I see your car's looking great too. Lovin the JDM tails. Throw some chrome turn signal bulbs in there so you can get rid of the amber showing through the clear section. Oh and you can keep the rain on your side of the Island. lol.

Well,

Let me start by saying I didn't really want to post pics yet since some final appearance mods still remain. But, since I got the tires mounted up on the Works today I know there's a couple guys who would kill me if I didn't post some pics.

So, here she is wearing her new shoes. (This girl has expensive taste in foot wear. lol.) Sorry she's still wet and the lighting isn't the best. As per usual I pushed right up until sunset. Oh and since my cooling fans haven't come in yet I wasn't able to find a nice place to shoot the photos. No Hawaiian sunset on a beach. Just the normal 360 in my drive.

Ok, enough out of me. Enjoy the pics. Oh and as always your comments good and bad are greatly appreciated.

BTW - For those with better than average attention to detail, you might have noticed that the tail lights are from the Japanese model. Not a big deal, but just one of those little things I wanted to have. I also decided to splice in brake lights below the clear section also. I think it looks a lot better with the light more balanced on both sides. Probably just me. lol.

Thanks for looking,

Lang

This is my Fav.. MSP so Far its the closest to all my ideas that I have photo choped thanks for the pics its a true insperation!

wow truly a masterpeice. Lovin the non tint look. Rims look soo bad ass my wallet just ran away from me. One of the best msp's ive so far set my eyes on.

^^^ Loving the interior and engine shots!

Couple of questions for ya!!!
1. How much did the Spal's run ya, and what size are they?
2. Did you just use a P5 radiator to make them fit?
3. How is the E-Brake Handle installed? Cutting involved? I allways wanted one, but was afraid of the install...

Thanks sooooooo much afor sharing these!!! It gives me a much better idea of how nice it can look when it all goes together on the inside with the sparco components!

Did I mention that you, and you alone are going to make me broke to keep up with you? ;)

Thanks for quoting every picture. Now the thread takes even longer to load.

I just saw this today and wanted to chime in that Lang was super duper patient in waiting to get these wheels. Due to their completely forged nature Work was in the process of renegotiating with their forging manufacturer. I have yet to meet a client who was as patient as Lang.

Lang I sure hope you like em, a looootttttt. IF you don't mind we'll be adding your pics to our new site customer gallery.

Thanks a lot and now you're only the second person rocking the meisters on a protege to my knowledge. THat is MAD CRAZY. hehe. THe wheels are like 25% the value of the car. hehe.

Peace, Rishie

Thanks Rishie. Everything definitely worked out in the end. It was a painful wait, but after seeing the rims I'd probably do it all again.

You're welcome to the pics, but I'll be sending you some btter ones in the Oct. or Nov. when she's closer to finished and I can actually have a decent photographer do the shoot.

As for the value of the wheels. Man, never had anyone point it out like that. That is pretty wild. But, now-a-days you have to spend to set yourself apart from the crowd. lol.

Yups, you gotta pay to play. And you've definitely done that. You're a big PLAYA now. hehe.

Just so you know, cause we run the Meister S1 line here in the states, you're the ONLY ONE WITH THE TWO PIECE VERSION.

I was the only other with this wheel but was the Three piece version which is now on my friend Steve's car. One of his wheels got damaged so you officially have the title right now of the

ONLY RUNNING MEISTER S1 3rd GEN PROTEGE. hehe. WOOT WOOT.

If you like being UNIQuE, it doesn't get much more unique than that.

TTYL,

Rishie

Your more than welcome. I like to help however I can. In answer to your questions:

1. Beau hooked me up on the fans since I had a long wait for my mani. due to the Jet Hot fiasco. So I got them for $65 a piece. I think that's pretty much the same neighborhood he charges on a regular basis.

2. Unfortunately no. The P5 radiator alone does not allow enough room to fit two fans in front. You have to sacrafice your A/C. This for me is no big loss, but I understand why it would be for so many.

3. Yeah, unfortunately again, you have cut off the rubber coating on the e-brake handle. I picked up an extra e-brake handle a while back as a plan B. So, it wasn't too big of deal. But, it pissed me off because on my Miata the rubber coating just slid off.

As for keeping up with me. lol. Guess it all depends on perspective. From where I sit I'd say you have a big lead. I just look forward to a day when we can get our cars together. If I get back to VA I'm really keeping my fingers crossed for a Protege Fest East.

You're welcome Kai. I think your car is one to watch. I expect to see great things in the near future. Oh, BTW I'm gonna have the car out tomorrow to get the exhaust installed. So, if you're not doing anything you should hook up with us.

quick question for anyone...will the mazdaspeed horn cap fit the factory p5 steering wheel?

Nope. It's made specifically for Momo wheels. But, it will also fit Sparco wheels as well as other aftermarket types with the small diameter horn button. It's not designed for use with any wheel with an air bag.

HKS Carbon-Ti Exhaust Installed

Well,

This weekend I finally got the HKS Carbon-Ti muffler I bought over a year ago installed. It was kind of a roller coaster experience. I took it to a local shop, Exhaust Systems Hawaii in Kailua, who I had been told were the absolute best. Their reputation is they don't give you s*** about where's your catalytic converter, or this exhaust won't pass recon inspection. Plus they were supposed to do your exhaust exactly how you ask them to and their quality was supposed to be the best.

As you probably noticed I said supposed to a lot. Well, that's because my experience was nothing like I was told it would be. Turned out the manager of this shop was away for a weeks vacation and I guess when that cat is away the mice like to play. From the moment I started telling the guy what I wanted he started coming up with reasons he couldn't do it. I stayed calm and explained that their shop had installed virtually the same exhaust on my buddy's P5 and finally the guy said he would take it in and look at it. Once it was on the lift he stopped arguing quite as much.

So, I left the car with them for two and a half hours. When I came back I looked over the exhaust and although the welds were dirty I decided it looked good enough. I paid, more than estimated of course, and left. Here's where the roller coaster starts. The exhaust sounded friggin awesome and had little movement. But, I later found out he had welded the cat back directly to my mid-pipe which I asked him specifically not to do. So, when I want to remove the cat-back I am basically removing it all the way up to under the engine. Plus I looked closer at the welds and saw he had not mandrel bent it under the axle as I had asked, and paid more for. He had just welded cut portions together, badly at that.

Anyhow, what I am getting at is it ain't pretty but it works. The muffler is mounted about where I wanted it and the fitment looks pretty good until you look under the car. I had thought about going back and bitching but I figure the manager would side with his employee.

So, my friend Rob came up with a suggestion that, while not traditional, might just look bad ass. At least better than it looks now. We're gonna pull the exhaust, grind the burs off the welds and then wrap the entire sytem from the mid-pipe back to the muffler with black exhaust wrap. It won't be for everyone, but I think it's gonna look sweet. Plus, since the exhaust rides pretty low it will help to protect it if I bottom out or rub a speed bump.

Ok, so I bet y'all wanna see pics. Your wish is my command. Sorry as usual I was washing right into darkness, so the car is wet and the lighting is for s***. So, I can't get very good "over-all" shots of the exhaust from a distance. But, I think these should give you an idea of how I had it crafted. Oh and since this is about exhuast I included a short clip of how it sounds.

As you can tell I like the looks of the HKS cat-back for the WRX. So, I copied them. So far most who have seen it agree that, minus the AWD, I pulled off the look.
